"If You Love Someone" is the second single from Australian pop duo The Veronicas' self-titled third studio album. The track was released on November 21, 2014. The track was co-written by Anthony Egizii and David Musumeci along with The Veronicas' twins Lisa Origliasso and Jessica Origliasso and Josh Katz. Background and recording The Veronicas released "You Ruin Me" as the lead single from their self-titled third studio album in September 2014. The song came two years after their last single, "Lolita", was released via their former label, Warner Bros. Records. "You Ruin Me" became their second Australian number-one hit and was certified triple platinum. "If You Love Someone", along with "Teenage Millionaire", was written and recorded after the Origliasso twins parted ways with Warner Bros. Records and signed with Sony Music Australia. The Veronicas is an Australian pop duo from Brisbane. The group was formed in 2004 by identical twin sisters Lisa and Jessica Origliasso. In 2005, the Veronicas released their debut studio album, titled '' The Secret Life of...'', which peaked at number two on the Australian Album Chart and was certified 4× platinum by Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) for selling over 280,000 copies. Popjustice is a music website founded in 2000 by UK freelance music journalist Peter Robinson, who has worked for ''NME'', ''The Guardian'', ''Attitude'' and many others. It is composed of the work of editor Robinson, features editor Michael Cragg, and a host of contributors. The website seeks to celebrate commercial popular music and does this using humour, user interaction, and contacts within the music industry. Its writing style has been compared favourably by a number of critics to that of the now defunct ''Smash Hits'' magazine, in that it mixes a passion for pop music with a surreal and biting wit. The Hit Network is an Australian commercial radio network owned and operated by Southern Cross Austereo. The network consists of 41 radio stations broadcasting a hot adult contemporary music format, as well as 6 digital radio stations.
