Odyssey is originally a New York City, United States-based singing group, best known for its 1977 hit " Native New Yorker", and a series of other mainly dance and soul hits in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Now based in the United Kingdom, the band is led and fronted by Steven Collazo and continues to perform and record. Career The group began as the Connecticut-born "Lopez Sisters" group, featuring Steven Collazo's mother, Lillian Lopez (Lillian Lopez Collazo Jackson; November 16, 1935 – September 4, 2012), Louise Lopez (February 22, 1933 – January 28, 2015), and Carmen Lopez (July 12, 1934 - April 22, 2016), the latter having left the group before Odyssey, as the act would come to be known after her departure, was conceived. Chrysalis (band)
Chrysalis were an American folk/rock band formed in Ithaca, NY in 1966. The band released only one album before breaking up in 1970, though several additional recordings were later released. The band consisted of Paul Album (bass), James Spider Barbarous (guitar, vocals), Dahaud Elias Shaar (percussion), Nancy Nairn (vocals),John Sabin (guitar) and Ralph Kotkov (keyboards). The band's one album, ''Definition'', released through MGM, is considered "a lost masterpiece". The album features orchestral drama, jazzy piano motifs and world beat rhythms, along with short comedy skits. The band wanted the album to be produced by Frank Zappa, a fan of the group who described them as "a group that has yet to destroy your mind", but he declined due to issues with MGM/Verve. "Use It Up and Wear It Out" is a song by US-based dance and soul group Odyssey that was released as a single in 1980. It was originally released as the B-side of "Don't Tell Me, Tell Her". When it was re-released as the A-side it would go on to spend twelve weeks in the UK Singles Chart, including two at No. 1, but failed to make commercial success in the United States. The song was written by Sandy Linzer and L. Russell Brown, and produced by Linzer. It was the New York-based disco group's only UK No. 1 single, spending two weeks at the top of the charts from July 26 to August 8, 1980, and was their most successful single on the UK Singles Chart. In their native United States, it failed to get into the Hot 100. However along with the track "Don't Tell Me, Tell Her", "Use It Up And Wear It Out" went to number six on the US Billboard Disco Top 100 chart.
