''Idlewild'' is a 2006 American musical film written and directed by Bryan Barber. The film stars André 3000 and Big Boi of the hip hop duo Outkast, and the film features musical numbers that were written, produced and chiefly performed by the group. ''Idlewild'' contrasts the group's hip-hop, funk, and soul sound against a story based on a juke joint in the fictional Depression-era town of Idlewild, Georgia in 1935. Idlewilde (Indian Springs, Georgia)
Idlewilde is a historic boarding house site built between 1907-1910 at what is now the Indian Springs State Park in Butts County, Georgia. Two granddaughters of Robert Grier, a famous 19th century astronomer and author of the ''Grier Almanac'', built Idlewilde and its gardens. It was operated as a boarding house until 1925. Mr. and Mrs. Willis B. Powell owned the house until 1943 and their guests included Franklin Delano Roosevelt. The property was then owned by Mrs. Linda T. Rastello until 1979 when she sold it to the State of Georgia. It has been used as the administrative offices of the park since March, 1995. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in March, 1999. The administrative offices of Indian Springs State Park have been in Idlewilde since March 1995. Idlewild is a historic plantation house and historic district just east of Talladega, Alabama, United States. The property was added to the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage and the National Register of Historic Places in 1993, due to its architectural significance. Ski Idlewild
Ski Idlewild was a small ski area located in Hideaway Park, Colorado (now downtown Winter Park). It began operation in 1961 opened by Dwight and Jean Miller with a blue Pomagalski (now Poma of America) double chair with shield. In 1967 a platter lift was installed, yielding better access to the north ski runs and giving first-time skiers an easier way to access the slopes. At the base of Ski Idlewild was which was ''Idlewild Guest Ranch'', a hotel built three years before the ski area opened. Idlewild is an unincorporated community in Gibson County, Tennessee, United States. The community began to form in the 1870s.
