Idaho Attorney General
The Attorney General of Idaho is an elected office that assists local law enforcement agencies in the state of Idaho. They provide legal representation for state agencies, state corporations and any persons holding ownership of property, as well as enforcing consumer protection laws. They advise state officials and entities in relation to the law. The incumbent attorney general, Lawrence Wasden, is the longest serving attorney general in Idaho's history, and was defeated in the Republican primary in the 2022 election. Although the attorney general has a four-year term, there are no limits on how many attempts that an incumbent can run for office. Idaho was admitted to the Union on July 3, 1890. Idaho ( ) is a state in the Pacific Northwest region of the Western United States. To the north, it shares a small portion of the Canada–United States border with the province of British Columbia. Allan Shepard
Allan Guy Shepard (December 18, 1922 – May 27, 1989) was an American attorney, politician, and jurist who served on the Idaho Supreme Court for two decades, including time as chief justice. He was previously the state's attorney general for six years, preceded by four years as a state legislator. Early life and education Born in Massachusetts, Shepard studied engineering at Boston University, then left to serve in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II as a B-24 waist gunner. He completed his bachelor's and law degrees at the University of Washington in Seattle. Career Shepard was a two-term state legislator from Ada County when elected state attorney general in 1962 and re-elected in 1966. As attorney general, he was an active member of the National Association of Attorneys General. Robert Ailshie (February 16, 1908 – November 16, 1947) was an American attorney and politician from Idaho who served as the state's 20th attorney general for less than eleven months in 1947. His father, James Ailshie (1868–1947), was a justice on the Idaho Supreme Court for 24 years, with several stints as chief justice. Francis Ernest Langley (13 October 1882 – 22 March 1946) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Melbourne Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1900s.
