Ida Waterman
Ida Waterman (born Ida Shaw; March 10, 1852 – May 22, 1941) was a stage and screen actress. Waterman was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She appeared some thirty or more Broadway productions between the late 1880s and early 1920s. She played Elise Claremont in the 1889 farce-comedy '' Our Flat'' and the following year Mrs. Kirke in '' Men and Women'' opposite Maude Adams. In 1899 she was Mrs. Crawley in ''Becky Sharp'' (later made into 1934 film ''Becky Sharp)'' and in 1922 closed out her Broadway career playing Mrs. French in ''Lawful Larceny''. Waterman was popular in numerous silent films in the teens and twenties as a supporting elderly actress much like Kate Lester. Elsie Ferguson
Elsie Louise Ferguson (August 19, 1883 – November 15, 1961) was an American stage and film actress. Early life Born in New York City, Elsie Ferguson was the only child of Hiram and Amelia Ferguson. Her father was a successful attorney. Raised and educated in Manhattan, she became interested in the theater at a young age and made her stage debut at 17 as a chorus girl in a musical comedy. For almost two years, from 1903 to 1905, she was a cast member in ''The Girl from Kays''. In 1908, she was leading lady to Edgar Selwyn in ''Pierre of the Plains''. By 1909, after several years apprenticeship under several producers, including Charles Frohman, Klaw & Erlanger, Charles Dillingham and Henry B. Harris, she was a major Broadway star, starring in ''Such a Little Queen''. In 1910, she spent time on the stage in London. Actresses Evelyn Nesbit and Ethel Barrymore were friends of hers. Directed by Thomas N. Heffron, it starred John Barrymore as a young husband who pretends to join the Masons as an excuse to get out of the house. It was based on a 1901 play by Leo Ditrichstein. This film is presumed lost. Plot summary Frank Perry discovers that his wife desires him to become a Mason. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Perry goes out for several nights to carouse and have fun while telling his wife that he is undergoing initiation at the Masonic lodge. When his wife invites her father, a Grand Master of the Masons, for a visit, Frank goes to comedic lengths to avoid being found out. It is based on a 1915 stage play of the same name by Avery Hopwood and stars Billie Burke in the title role. In the play, Marjorie Rambeau played the Burke part.
