The Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) (Icelandic: Alþýðusamband Íslands) is a trade union centre in Iceland. It was formed in 1916 and has a membership of 104,500, approximately half of the Icelandic workforce. Iceland
Iceland ( is, Ísland; ) is a Nordic island country in the North Atlantic Ocean and in the Arctic Ocean. Iceland is the most sparsely populated country in Europe. Drífa Snædal(born 5 June 1973) is an Icelandic trade union leader and politician. She was the president of the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) (Icelandic: Alþýðusamband Íslands) 2018-2022. She resigned August 10, 2022. Drífa was born in Reykjavík but grew up in Hella from the age of four and in Lund in Sweden from the age of six to eleven. In 1993, she graduated from Fjölbrautaskólinn in Breiðholt with a degree in sociology. Iceland is generally considered to be one of the leading countries in the world in regard to the human rights enjoyed by its citizens.
