Iceland Women's National Ice Hockey Team
The Icelandic women's national ice hockey team represents Iceland at the International Ice Hockey Federation's World Women's Ice Hockey Championship Division IIB. The women's national team is controlled by Ice Hockey Iceland. As of 2011, Iceland had 71 female players. The Icelandic women's national team is ranked 29th in the world. Olympic record The Icelandic women's hockey team has never qualified for an Olympic tournament. 2012 IIHF Women's World Championship Division II
The Division II tournament was held in Maribor, Slovenia, from March 25 to 31 for Group A. Group B was contested from March 10 to 16 in Seoul, South Korea. In both tournaments the first placed team was promoted and the last placed team relegated, so, the Group B winner moved up to Group A, and the Group A winner moved up to Division I Group B. The last placed in Group A was relegated to Group B. While the rules stated that the 5th and 6th placed teams in Group B must enter a qualification tournament for next year if more member nations apply to compete, this did not happen. The 2023 IIHF Women's World Championship Division II comprised two international ice hockey tournaments of the 2023 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). The Group A tournament was played in Mexico City, Mexico from 2 to 7 April, and the Group B tournament in Cape Town, South Africa, from 20 to 26 February 2023. Latvia won Group A and got promoted and North Korea got relegated after withdrawing. Belgium won the Group B tournament and got promoted, while Croatia got relegated. The Group A tournament was played in Jaca, Spain, from 3 to 8 April 2022 and the Group B tournament in Zagreb, Croatia, from 17 to 22 May 2022. Entering the competition, there were no divisional changes, as the 2021 event was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship Division II was scheduled to be two international ice hockey tournaments organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division II Group A tournament would have been held in Jaca, Spain, from 10 to 16 April 2021 and the Division II Group B tournament in Zagreb, Croatia, from 7 to 13 March 2021. In 2020, Australia was initially promoted but after Division II Group A was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they remain in Division II Group B. The Division II Group A tournament would have been played in Granada, Spain, from 29 March to 4 April 2020. On 2 March 2020, this tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
