Iasos (musician)
Joseph Bernardot (January 9, 1947 – January 6, 2024), better known by his stage name Iasos, was a Greek-born American musician and composer who was considered a pioneer of new-age music. His company Inter-Dimensional Music is based in Sausalito, California. Iasos performed and lectured internationally, and his music is distributed worldwide. His music has been used by NASA and the Ivan Dryer, Laserium light show. Life and career Born in Alexandroupolis, Greece, at age four, Iasos and his family moved to the United States, first settling in St. Regis Falls, New York and then Malone, New York. He began piano lessons when he was eight and the flute at age ten; he played the latter in his school band. He graduated from Franklin Academy (New York), Franklin Academy as salutatorian in 1964. In June 1968, he graduated from Cornell University with a degree in cultural anthropology. Alexandroupolis
Alexandroupolis ( el, Αλεξανδρούπολη, ), Alexandroupoli, or Alexandrople is a city in Greece and the capital of the Evros regional unit. It is the largest city in Western Thrace and the region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace. It has 71,601 inhabitants and is an important port and commercial center of northeastern Greece. The city was first settled by the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century and grew into a fishing village, Dedeağaç. In 1873, it became a ''kaza'' and one year later, it was promoted to a ''sanjak''. The city developed into a regional trading center. Later, it became a part of Adrianople Vilayet. During the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878), it was briefly captured by the Russians. Ottoman rule ended with the First Balkan War, when the city was captured by Bulgaria in 1912. In the Second Balkan War, Greece took the control of the city. Jimi Hendrix
James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; November 27, 1942September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. Although his mainstream career spanned only four years, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential electric guitarists in the history of popular music, and one of the most celebrated musicians of the 20th century. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame describes him as "arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music." Born in Seattle, Washington, Hendrix began playing guitar at the age of 15. In 1961, he enlisted in the US Army, but was discharged the following year. Soon afterward, he moved to Clarksville then Nashville, Tennessee, and began playing gigs on the chitlin' circuit, earning a place in the Isley Brothers' backing band and later with Little Richard, with whom he continued to work through mid-1965.
