Ian Thomas (cricketer)
Ian James Thomas (born 9 May 1979, Newport, Monmouthshire) is a Welsh cricketer who played for Glamorgan as a left-handed opening batsman from 1999 to 2005. Thomas, along with Graeme Hick, held the record for highest score in the Twenty20 Cup from 2004 to 2006, after scoring 116 not out to lead Glamorgan to a win with three balls to spare against Somerset Sabres in the group stages of the 2004 tournament. On his County Championship debut in 2000, Thomas made 82 in a drawn match against Essex, described by the BBC reporter as a "dream debut". It was to be his highest score in first class cricket, and he only made two higher scores in any form of the game, the aforementioned Twenty20 century and 93 against a Durham Cricket Board XI in the C&G Trophy. C&G Trophy
The Friends Provident Trophy was a one-day cricket competition in the United Kingdom. It was one of the four tournaments in which the eighteen first-class counties competed each season. They were joined by teams from Scotland and Ireland. Lancashire won the title a record seven times. The competition has previously been known as the C&G Trophy (2000–2006), the NatWest Trophy (1981–2000) and the Gillette Cup (1963–1980). For a short period following the 2006 season, the competition was known as the ECB One-Day Trophy because no sponsors were forthcoming when Cheltenham and Gloucester decided to end their association with the competition after the 2006 season. South Wales Cricket League
The South Wales Premier Cricket League, is the top level of competition for recreational club cricket in South Wales. The league was founded in 1999 as the South East Wales League, being renamed following its accreditation as an ECB Premier League in 2001. The original South Wales Premier Cricket League did not include all of South Wales's leading clubs. Its clubs came from South Glamorgan and the traditional county of Monmouthshire, while clubs from further west played in the South Wales Cricket Association, a league which has been in existence since 1926. That league too sought ECB Premier League status, but the ECB was not willing to accredit two Premier Leagues in South Wales. In 2010, the South Wales Premier Cricket League was reorganised. Dan Cherry
Daniel David Cherry (born 1980) is a Welsh cricketer. He is a left-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler who played for Glamorgan and represented England up to under 17 level. Cherry debuted for the Glamorgan 2nd XI in 1998 due to a spate of injuries to the Glamorgan team, and subsequently left to read history at Swansea University. He did not appear again until 2002, when he scored a one-day century against Scotland. He struggled to find a consistent place in the first XI in the County Championship and was usually overlooked for one day games, despite his century against Scotland He was prolific for the 2nd XI in 2004 and fought his way back into the first team in the latter part of the season while a back injury to Matthew Elliott on the morning of Glamorgan's match against Surrey CCC in May 2005 led to his hasty inclusion. Wales National County Cricket Club
Wales National County Cricket Club is one of twenty National county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents all of the historic counties of Wales except Glamorgan and is currently the only non-English member of the National Counties Cricket Championship. The team is currently a member of the National Counties Cricket Championship Western Division, having joined in 1988 after Somerset's second eleven left the competition, and plays in the NCCA Knockout Trophy. Wales National County played List A matches occasionally from 1993 until 2005 but is not classified as a List A team ''per se''.
