Ian Russell (soccer)
Ian Russell (born August 30, 1975) is an American soccer coach and former player. He is currently an assistant coach of MLS club San Jose Earthquakes. Career Russell attended the University of Washington on a soccer scholarship and was a three-time (1994, 1996–97) All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team selection. He then played for the Seattle Sounders of the USL First Division in 1998 and 1999. He won the offensive MVP award in 1999. Professional playing After being drafted by the Seattle Sounders in 1998, Russell played for two seasons in the USL First Division. In 2000, Russell moved to Polish side Lech Poznań, and played only one game in a league cup. He then moved back to the United States to play for Major League Soccer, and he joined the San Jose Earthquakes; Russell appeared in 131 games. Ian Russell (born 10 August 1965) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1980s and 1990s. Primarily a , he played for the Illawarra Steelers and North Queensland Cowboys in Australia, and for the Sheffield Eagles, Paris Saint-Germain and Oldham Bears ( Heritage No. 1052) in Europe. Playing career A Mittagong Lions junior of Indigenous descent, Russell won an under-18 Grand Final with club in 1983 and played A Grade for them in 1984 before joining the Illawarra Steelers. Harold Ian Lyle Russell (17 October 1934 – 9 August 2021) was an English Anglican priest who was Archdeacon of Coventry from 1989 to 2000 and an Honorary Chaplain to the Queen from 1997 to 2004. Russell was educated at Epsom College. He worked for Shell from 1951 to 1953; and was in the RAF Regiment from 1953 to 1956. He studied for ordination at the London College of Divinity, and was ordained deacon in 1960 and priest in 1961. Ian Russell (folklorist)
Ian Russell MBE (born 1947) is a British Folklorist, most noted for his research into singing traditions in the English Pennines. Research Beginning in 1969, Russell has conducted extensive fieldwork in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire, particularly on regional folksong and traditional drama. Whilst working as a teacher, Russell undertook a part-time PhD through the Institute of Dialect and Folklife Studies, at the University of Leeds. His thesis was titled 'Traditional singing in west Sheffield, 1970-2' and was completed in 1977. Russell has made a particular study of village carolling in the Pennines. The emergence of carol singing in this part of England has been dated to the eighteenth century and consists of a style and repertoire very different to the conception of carols which emerged in the Victorian period.
