Ian Rowland (footballer)
Ian Rowland (born 4 March 1941) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Rowland played for the Saints from 1960 until 1966 and was St Kilda Football Club's leading goalkicker in 1961. He played in St Kilda's 1965 Grand Final side which was defeated by 35 points, but was dropped for their victory in 1966, despite playing 18 games during the year, including the previous week. The Wangaratta Magpies Football Club, officially known as the Wangaratta Magpies Football & Netball Club, is an Australian rules football club, which first played in the Ovens and Murray Football League in 1893 and is based in Wangaratta, Victoria at the Wangaratta Showgrounds and play on the Norm Minns Oval. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). During general play, players may position themselves anywhere on the field and use any part of their bodies to move the ball. The primary methods are kicking, handballing and running with the ball. The Murray Football Netball League is an Australian rules football and netball league affiliated with the Victorian Country Football League. The league covers a large area of northern Victoria and southern New South Wales from Shepparton in the south to Deniliquin in the north.
