Ian Revell
Ian Murray Revell (born 7 February 1948) is a former New Zealand politician. He was an MP from 1990 to 1999, representing the National Party. Before entering politics, Revell was a senior detective in the New Zealand Police. Member of Parliament He was first elected to Parliament in the 1990 election as MP for Birkenhead, defeating the incumbent Jenny Kirk of the Labour Party. He remained MP for Birkenhead until the seat was abolished in the 1996 election, when he successfully stood for the new Northcote electorate. In the 1999 election, he was defeated by Labour's Ann Hartley by less than 300 votes. As he was not on National's party list, he left Parliament. After politics He now works as a Senior Sales Consultant for Prestige Realty and has been the recipient of the Top Salesperson Award for 2006 and 2007. Ann Hartley
Margaret Ann Hartley (born 1942) is a former New Zealand member of parliament, a former mayor of North Shore City, and a member of the Labour Party. Early years Hartley was born in 1942 in the town of Warkworth. Before entering politics, she was a real estate agent. From 1980 to 1986 she was a member of the Birkenhead City Council, a member of the Child Abuse Prevention Society from 1983 to 1986 and a member of the Auckland Education Board 1984 to 1989. Political career Mayoralties From 1986, Hartley was the mayor of Birkenhead City, which in 1989 was absorbed into the newly created North Shore City. She then became mayor of North Shore City. Peter Tapsell (New Zealand Politician)
Sir Peter Wilfred Tapsell (21 January 1930 – 5 April 2012) was Speaker of the New Zealand House of Representatives from 1993 to 1996. He was notable for being the first Māori Speaker, and for being the first Speaker since Bill Barnard in 1943 to hold office while not a member of the governing party. He was an orthopaedic surgeon before entering politics. Early life Peter Wilfred Tapsell was born in 1930. His father Pita was a grandson of the early Danish-born trader Phillip Tapsell and Hine-i-tūrama Ngātiki. Tapsell was born and raised in Rotorua, and went to Rotorua Boys' High School. With the help of a scholarship, he studied medicine at the University of Otago, graduating in 1952. George Wood (New Zealand Politician)
George Sydney Wood (born 5 August 1946) is a former mayor of North Shore City and a former Auckland Councillor. He was the only North Shore City mayor to be elected for three terms and later represented North Shore ward on the Auckland Council between 2010 and 2016. He is now the Deputy Chair of the Devonport-Takapuna Local Board. Early life Wood was born in Birkenhead on Auckland's North Shore. He was educated at Birkdale Primary School, Northcote Intermediate School and Northcote College. 2016 Auckland Local Elections
The 2016 Auckland local elections took place between September and October 2016 by postal vote. The elections were the third since the merger of seven councils into the Auckland Council, which is composed of the mayor and 20 councillors, and 149 members of 21 local boards. Twenty-one district health board members and 41 licensing trust members were also elected.
