Ian Messiter
Ian Cassan Messiter (2 April 1920 – 22 November 1999) was a BBC Radio producer and the creator of a number of panel games, including '' Just a Minute'', ''Dealing With Daniels'' and '' Many a Slip''. Messiter brought the successful '' twenty questions'' format to BBC Radio and was programme associate for ''Family Fortunes''. Messiter was born in Dudley, Worcestershire, and educated at Winton House School, near Winchester, and Sherborne School in Dorset. In his autobiography, ''My Life and Other Games'' (1990), Ian Messiter described how an incident during a history lesson at Sherborne School became the inspiration for the ''Just a Minute'' radio panel-game. Ian acted as whistle-blower on ''Just a Minute'', and its predecessor ''One Minute, Please''. He appeared in the first series of BBC science-fiction quiz show ''The Adventure Game'' in 1980 as the Rangdo, the leader of the alien Argonds, and contributed ideas for puzzles in the series. BBC Radio is an operational business division and service of the British Broadcasting Corporation (which has operated in the United Kingdom under the terms of a royal charter since 1927). Malcolm Messiter
Malcolm Messiter (born 1949) is a British oboist, particularly known for his recording of the virtuosic "La Favorita" concerto by Antonio Pasculli. He is the son of Ian Messiter, the creator of the BBC panel show '' Just a Minute'', and his wife Enid (née Senior). Education Messiter began playing the oboe at the age of 15 whilst a student at Bryanston School in Blandford Forum, Dorset. His first oboe teacher was Douglas Heffer, who taught both the oboe and English at Bryanston. Messiter was extremely enthusiastic from the onset and was known to play chamber music concerts at the school almost every week. When first beginning the oboe, Heffer bought him an oboe, the cost of which was put on the school bill, much to the surprise of his parents. In 1967, after studying the oboe for only two years, Messiter won a scholarship to the Paris Conservatoire. Nicholas Parsons
Christopher Nicholas Parsons (10 October 1923 – 28 January 2020) was an English actor, straight man and radio and television presenter. He was the long-running presenter of the comedy radio show '' Just a Minute'' and hosted the game show ''Sale of the Century'' during the 1970s and early 1980s. Parsons was born and grew up in Grantham, Lincolnshire, and was educated at St Paul's School, London. He became a full-time actor following the Second World War and began appearing in various theatre, film and television roles, including support to Arthur Haynes as his straight man. He began presenting ''Just a Minute'' in 1967 and never missed a show until 2018. The Adventure Game
''The Adventure Game'' is a game show that was originally broadcast on British television, UK television channels BBC One, BBC1 and BBC Two, BBC2 between 24 May 1980 and 18 February 1986. The story in each show was that the two celebrity contestants and a member of the public had travelled by space ship to the planet Arg. Their overall task varied with each series. For example, the team might be charged with finding a crystal needed to power their ship to return to Earth. The programme is often considered to have been a forerunner of ''The Crystal Maze''.
