Ian Little (economist)
Ian Malcolm David Little, (18 December 1918 – 13 July 2012) was a British economist. The son of Brigadier-General Malcolm Orme Little and his wife Iris Hermione, ''née'' Brassey, Ian Little was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford, where he read PPE, graduating with a First in 1947. During World War II, he served as a test pilot in the Airborne Forces Experimental Establishment and flew autogiros, and was awarded the Air Force Cross. After the War, he began a DPhil at Nuffield College, Oxford under the supervision of John Hicks, with whom he clashed. Hicks threatened to have Little's studentship rescinded, but Little was elected a prize fellow of All Souls College, Oxford in 1948, where he completed his doctorate. Little's doctoral thesis was published by Oxford University Press in 1950 as ''A Critique of Welfare Economics'' and proved to be influential, selling 70,000 copies. Ian Little (footballer)
Ian Little (born 10 December 1973) is a former Scottish football player and current manager of Bo'ness United. Career During his playing career, Little represented Berwick Rangers, Livingston, Stenhousemuir and Alloa Athletic. Little had spells as manager of Vale of Leithen, Heriot Watt University, Livingston Under 20s, a brief caretaker role at Tranent Juniors, Whitehill Welfare, and Berwick Rangers. Little was made caretaker manager of Berwick Rangers after Jimmy Crease left the club in October 2011. After some good results, Berwick announced in mid-November that Little would stay in charge until 31 December, when matters will be re-assessed. On 28 December 2011, Berwick Rangers announced that Little would remain as manager until at least the end of the 2011-12 season.
