Ian Emes
Ian Ronald Emes (born 17 August 1949) is a British artist and film director. He is known for using innovative and experimental film techniques, and for being Pink Floyd's original animator. Emes' animations have featured in major exhibitions, including Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains, Pink Floyd: Their Mortal Remains at the V&A (2017) and the National Film Theatre Retrospective (1980). His works have also been used in live music tours, such as Us + Them Tour, Roger Waters Us + Them (2017), David Gilmour Live at the Royal Albert Hall (2016) and Mike Oldfield concert tours, Mike Oldfield's In Concert Tour (1980). He is the winner of three British Academy Film Awards, BAFTA Awards (1994, 2009, 2011), a Palme d'Or (1979), a British Animation Award (2014), and is an Emmy Award (2017) and Academy Awards, Oscar Academy Award (1984) nominee. ''The Early Years 1965–1972'' is a box set that details the early work of the English rock band Pink Floyd released on 11 November 2016. It was released by Pink Floyd Records with distribution held by Warner Music for the UK and Europe and Sony Music for the rest of the world. The box set comprises seven volumes over 33 discs, including CDs, DVDs, BDs, vinyl records, plus memorabilia including photos, posters and tour programmes. It contains early non-album singles plus unreleased studio and live recordings. Although ''Volumes 1–6'' have been available individually since 24 March 2017, ''Volume 7 – 1967–1972: Continu/ation'', remains exclusive to the set. Duran Duran () are an English Rock music, rock band formed in Birmingham in 1978 by singer and bassist Stephen Duffy, keyboardist Nick Rhodes and guitarist/bassist John Taylor (bass guitarist), John Taylor. ''The Oriental Nightfish'' is a 1978 animated film directed by Ian Emes which accompanies the Linda McCartney composition "The Oriental Nightfish". The film has a running time of 4m 30s and features animation by Ian Emes with the track "The Oriental Nightfish" performed by Wings, the band Linda and her husband Paul McCartney were members of. On The Run (Pink Floyd Song)
"On the Run" is the third track from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, ''The Dark Side of the Moon''. It is an instrumental piece performed on an EMS synthesizer ( Synthi AKS). It deals with the pressures of travel, specifically air travel, which according to Richard Wright, would often bring fear of death. Composition This piece was created by entering an 8-note sequence into a Synthi AKS synthesiser made by the British synthesiser manufacturer EMS and speeding it up, with an added white noise generator creating the hi-hat sound. The band then added backwards guitar parts, created by dragging a microphone stand down the fretboard, reversing the tape, and panning left to right. There are also other Synthi and VCS 3 synthesizer parts, made to sound like a vehicle passing, giving a Doppler effect.
