Ian Duguid
Air Vice-Marshal Ian W. Duguid, (born 1 December 1966) is a senior Royal Air Force serving as air office commanding No. 1 Group RAF, headquartered at RAF High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire. Duguid was a Harrier pilot and Typhoon Force Commander before assuming the role of the Air Officer Commanding of No. 11 Group, which he served as from 2018 to November 2021. RAF career Duguid was educated at Scarborough Sixth Form College and King's College London (MSc Defence Studies). Duguid was commissioned into the Royal Air Force in 1986. While a squadron commander of one of the Harrier squadrons in the 1990s, Duguid was known by the nickname of "Squid". After operational service protecting the Iraqi no-fly zones, he commanded No. 4 Squadron RAF in Afghanistan in 2006 to 2007, for which he was mentioned in despatches. Royal Air Force
The Royal Air Force (RAF) is the United Kingdom's air and space force. It was formed towards the end of the First World War on 1 April 1918, becoming the first independent air force in the world, by regrouping the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). Following the Allied victory over the Central Powers in 1918, the RAF emerged as the largest air force in the world at the time. Since its formation, the RAF has taken a significant role in British military history. In particular, it played a large part in the Second World War where it fought its most famous campaign, the Battle of Britain. Companions Of The Order Of The Bath
The Most Honourable Order of the Bath is a British order of chivalry founded by George I on 18 May 1725. The name derives from the elaborate medieval ceremony for appointing a knight, which involved bathing (as a symbol of purification) as one of its elements. The knights so created were known as "Knights of the Bath". George I "erected the Knights of the Bath into a regular Military Order". He did not (as is commonly believed) revive the Order of the Bath, since it had never previously existed as an Order, in the sense of a body of knights who were governed by a set of statutes and whose numbers were replenished when vacancies occurred. Air Vice-Marshal Allan Paul Marshall, is a senior Royal Air Force officer. Early life Marshall holds an engineering degree from Pembroke College, Cambridge. RAF career Marshall was commissioned into the Royal Air Force (RAF) in September 1991. He served as officer commanding No. 5 Squadron RAF, No. V (AC) Squadron. He went on to become station commander at RAF Waddington in March 2016, and Head of Military Operations in the Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), Ministry of Defence in December 2018. Air Vice-Marshal Philip Jeremy Robinson, is a decorated British pilot and senior Royal Air Force officer. RAF career Having flown Chinooks, he has been awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC) three times for service during the War in Afghanistan and the Iraq War. He flew in operations in Bosnia, Albania, Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Iraq, Lebanon and Afghanistan. RAF Air Command
Air Command is the only Command currently active in the Royal Air Force. It was formed by the merger of Royal Air Force Strike and Personnel and Training commands on 1 April 2007, and has its headquarters at RAF High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. The equivalent in the Royal Navy is Navy Command Headquarters at Portsmouth and the equivalent in the British Army is Army Headquarters at Andover. Command structure Air Command is commanded by the Chief of the Air Staff.
