Ian Dobson (footballer)
Ian Dobson (born 3 October 1957) is a former Australian football (soccer) player who has won the Victorian Premier League Coach of the Year Award twice. Currently, Dobson is Director of Coaching at Green Gully Soccer Club. Dobson first arrived in Australia in 1982 and played for the Croydon City Arrows in the State League before being snapped up by National League side Preston Makedonia. Coincidentally Dobson's first coaching role came in 1989 with the Croydon City Arrows in a career which would span three decades to include a National Soccer League Championship with the Melbourne Knights, a National Soccer League Cup, also with the Melbourne Knights, two Victorian Premier League titles with Altona Magic (1995, 1997) and six Victorian Premier League titles with Green Gully. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield position whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Dockerty Cup
The Dockerty Cup is an annual association football knock-out competition open to all Victorian clubs across the Victorian football league system. The tournament is named after the former president of Football Federation Victoria Harry Dockerty. Since 2014 the Cup is also a qualifying competition for the FFA Cup, now known as the Australia Cup, where the four finalists enter the competition proper at the round of 32. The Dockerty cup winner also qualifies to the next season's FV Community Shield, in a one-off match against the current NPL Victoria champion. The National Premier Leagues Victoria, commonly known as NPL Victoria, is a semi-professional soccer league in Victoria, Australia. The league is a part of the National Premier Leagues, and is the highest level within the Victorian soccer league system, serving jointly as the second tier within the overall Australian pyramid.
