Ian Davis (businessman)
Sir Ian Edward Lamert Davis (born 10 March 1951) is an English businessman, best known for his role as managing director of McKinsey & Company. He succeeded Rajat Gupta on 1 July 2003. He joined McKinsey in 1979 retired in 2010, after 7 years at Bowater and currently serves as a senior partner emeritus. Davis was born in Kent, England. Prior to becoming managing director, he was office manager of McKinsey's London and UK office. He has an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Balliol College, University of Oxford. He is the brother of former Reed Elsevier chairman Crispin Davis. His twin brother is Sir Nigel Davis, a Court of Appeal judge. He is currently chairman of Thoughtworks. Davis was a Non-Executive Director at Johnson & Johnson, BP, Teach For All, Big Society Trust and He is a Senior Adviser to Apax Partners and Majid Al Futtaim Group. Ian Davis (cricketer)
Ian Charles Davis (born 25 June 1953) is an Australian former cricketer (batsman) who played in 15 Test matches and three One Day Internationals between 1973 and 1977. Davis retired from first-class cricket in 1984 then worked for Dunlop Slazenger (part of the Pacific Brands group) until his retirement in 2010. Bright start Ian Davis' talent was spotted early and he was selected to tour the West Indies in 1969/70 with the Australian Schoolboys XI. To ensure he could make the trip his local community in Shoalhaven clubbed together to sponsor his journey, something Davis remains grateful for to this day. On tour Davis was chosen to open the batting with another future test player Gary Cosier for the first two matches against Jamaica Under-19s. He scored 11, 8 and 8. In the third tour match against Barbados he scored one run not out batting at four. George Ian Davis (7 February 1939 – 25 February 2016) was an Australian politician. He was born in Melbourne to George Davis and Viola, ''née'' Jackson. After attending South West Brunswick State School and Melbourne Church of England Grammar School, he received an Associate Diploma in Communications from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. He worked as an engineer in 1961 before becoming sales manager with George Davis Glass, his father's firm, becoming partner in 1973 and managing director in 1981. In 1987 he became managing director of GBL Services Pty Ltd and Royston Holdings Pty Ltd. Ian Davis (software Developer)
Embedded RDF (eRDF) is a syntax for writing HTML in such a way that the information in the HTML document can be extracted (with an eRDF parser or XSLT style sheet) into Resource Description Framework (RDF). This can be of great use for searching within data. It was invented by Ian Davis in 2005, and partly inspired by microformats, a simplified approach to semantically annotate data in websites. This specification is obsolete, superseded by RDFa, Microdata, and JSON-LD. Ian McNaught-Davis (30 August 1929 – 10 February 2014) was a British television presenter best known for presenting the BBC television series ''The Computer Programme'', '' Making the Most of the Micro'' and ''Micro Live'' in the 1980s. He was also a mountaineer and alpinist. He was managing director of the British subsidiary of Comshare Inc. Early life and career The son of Stanley McNaught-Davis, an ex RAF pilot, he was educated at Rothwell Grammar School in Lofthouse, West Yorkshire (originally built in Rothwell, West Yorkshire), followed by national service in the RAF where his poor eyesight thwarted his ambitions to become a pilot. He achieved a first in Mathematics at the University of Manchester, where he also became an active mountaineer. After university he had a variety of jobs including digging ice tunnels for glaciologists on Monte Rosa in Switzerland; fixing roofs and teaching.
