Ian Clarke (born 16 February 1977) is the original designer and lead developer of Freenet. Early life Clarke grew up in Navan, County Meath, Ireland. He was educated at Dundalk Grammar School and while there, he came first twice in the Senior Chemical, Physical, and Mathematical section of the Young Scientist Exhibition. The first time, in 1993, was with a project entitled "The C Neural Network Construction Kit". The second time, the following year, was with a project entitled "Mapping Internal Variations in Translucency within a Translucent Object using Beams of Light". Freenet In 1995, Clarke left Dundalk to study Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. While at Edinburgh, he became president of the then dormant Artificial Intelligence Society, resulting in its revival. Ian Clarke (physician)
Ian Clarke is a physician, missionary, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and politician in Uganda. Since May 2011, he has been mayor of Makindye Division, one of the five administrative units of the Kampala Capital City Authority. Background and education Clarke was born in South Armagh, Northern Ireland in 1952 to Thomas and Jean Clarke. He studied human medicine at Queen's University Belfast, graduating in 1976 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery and a Bachelor of Obstetrics, as is customary in Irish medical schools. In 1987, he obtained a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM). He followed up in 1994 with a Master of Science in Public Health, also from LSTM. Moved to Uganda Clarke read about the AIDS epidemic in Uganda and decided to come see for himself. Ian Clarke (flautist)
Ian Clarke (born 4 February 1964) is a British flutist and composer. Biography Clarke was born in Broadstairs to a chemist father (who played in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain) and a mother who gave private music lessons in cello and piano. His musical studies began on recorder at age six. He started piano lessons at age eight, and developed an interest in the flute by age 10, such that he began to teach himself how to play the flute. Following early private lessons from clarinet teachers, at age 16, he began private lessons with Simon Hunt and Averil Williams at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Whilst Clarke listened to classical music in his childhood, with time, he developed an increasing interest in rock music. Clarke read mathematics for a year at the London School of Economics, but then left university for a year to focus on playing the flute, where his teachers also included Kate Lukas. Cressida was a British progressive rock band, best known for its mellow, symphonic sound. Originally known as Charge, the band was active from 1968 to 1970, and recorded two albums for Vertigo. Career The roots of Cressida were sown in March 1968, when guitarist "Rock & Roll" John Heyworth answered an advertisement in ''Melody Maker'', and later travelled to London to join The Dominators, a band whose situation he later described as "hopeless - until Angus Cullen applied for the lead singer spot". He and Heyworth hit it off immediately, and Heyworth was invited to stay at Cullen's family flat in Barkstone Gardens near Earl's Court. The pair settled down to some serious writing, eventually welcoming bassist Kevin McCarthy and drummer Iain Clark to the fold and now calling themselves Charge. Ian Clarke (rugby Union)
Ian James Clarke (5 March 1931 – 29 June 1997) was a New Zealand rugby union player, farmer and rugby administrator. Clarke was the eldest of five sons of Alexander James Clarke, a blacksmith, and Annie Marie Taylor. He joined thKereone Rugby Clubin 1947, and in 1953 was selected for the All Black team that toured Britain and France. He captained the team in three tests against Australia in 1955. In 1961 all five Clarke brothers played for Waikato in a game against Thames Valley. On 16 February 1963, Clarke married Jeanette Eleanor Welch, a copywriter; they had no children. He retired as a player in 1964 after completing 252 first-class games, including 24 tests. He then became a dairy farmer and a rugby referee and administrator. Ian Clarke is a Canadian retired soccer player who played professionally in the A-League and National Professional Soccer League In 1996, Clarke, brother of Chris Clarke, signed with the Vancouver 86ers of the A-League. He played outdoor soccer with them until 1999. During those years, Clarke also played indoor soccer. In the fall of 1996, he joined the Edmonton Drillers of the National Professional Soccer League. In 1998, he returned to the indoor game with the Milwaukee Wave. He became a regular with the Wave and was named to the 1998–99 NPSL All Rookie Team. In 1999, Clarke began the season with the Wave before being traded to the St. Louis Ambush before being sent to the Wichita Wings for the end of the season.
