Gymnastic Athletic Club Ialysos Rhodes 1948 ( el, Γυμναστικός Αθλητικός Σύλλογος Ιάλυσος Ρόδου 1948) is a Greek professional football club based in Ialysos, Dodecanese, Greece. The club was founded in 1948. History The club was originally founded in 1925, during which the Dodecanese belonged to the Kingdom of Italy. GAS Ialyssos was officially established in 1948, during which the Dodecanese arrived in the Kingdom of Greece. In 1992–93, the team won the first place in its group, in the National Division IV, thus winning the promotion to the National Division III. In the following period, 1993–94, they joined the 1st Group finishing second with 67 points, leading to the promotion to 2nd National. The Gamma Ethniki ( el, Γ΄ Εθνική Ερασιτεχνική Κατηγορία, C National Amateur Division) is the third highest football league in Greece. History The Gamma Ethniki began in 1965 as an amateur championship, while in 1983 it was changed to professional. Although not literally national (it is divided into ''North'' and ''South'' groups), Football League 2 is considered as a national division. On 3 August 2010, it was announced that the division had been renamed ''Football League 2''. The 2018–19 Gamma Ethniki is the 36th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. It start on 30 September 2018. This year 12 teams will be promoted. 1997–98 Gamma Ethniki The 1997–98 Gamma Ethniki was the 15th season since the official establishment of the third tier of Greek football in 1983. Ialysos Rodos and PAS Giannina were crowned champions in ''Southern'' and ''Northern'' Group respectively, thus winning promotion to Beta Ethniki.
