Ian McDonald (civil Servant)
Ian McDonald (29 March 1936 – 28 March 2019) was a civil servant in the UK's Ministry of Defence (United Kingdom), Ministry of Defence and was the Ministry's spokesman during the Falklands War. Life and career McDonald was born on 29 March 1936, in Langside, Glasgow. With his brother, he attended High School of Glasgow, Glasgow High School. He went on to study law at University of Glasgow and began postgraduate studies in Greek and Italian at the same university. Soon thereafter McDonald was conscripted into the army as a translator in Cyprus, however he had studied ancient Greek rather than the modern Greek which was required for his posting. McDonald was discharged from the army and joined a law firm in Glasgow. He later moved to Karachi, Pakistan, to work as a teacher for a year. Ian Macdonald (Scottish Politician)
Ian C. H. Macdonald (born 1934) is a former Scottish nationalist activist. Macdonald studied at the Glasgow Academy and University of Glasgow before undertaking National Service''The Times House of Commons'' (1979), p.38 He joined the Scottish National Party (SNP), and began working on a farm in Killearn, in 1956 starting a branch of the SNP in nearby Balfron. The following year, he inherited the family farm in Newmilns, and started the Irvine Valley branch of the party. He was elected to the SNP organisation committee, and in 1961 to its executive. The party also stood him as its candidate at the 1961 Glasgow Bridgeton by-election, its first by-election candidacy in nine years. Supported by election agent Alan Niven, Macdonald won 18.7% of the vote in a seat which the party had never previously contested. ''Annie Laurie'' is a 1927 American silent romantic drama film directed by John S. Robertson, released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, and starring Lillian Gish and Norman Kerry. It is about the battles of Scottish clans. This was the third film of Lillian Gish at MGM, and its poor box office returns marked a decline in the star's career. Playing career MacDonald made his debut for Transvaal in 1990 and played 145 matches for Transvaal/Golden Lions/Lions during his career.
