Iain Cook
Iain Andrew Cook (born 2 November 1974) is a Scottish musician, composer, record producer, and member of Glasgow-based pop band Chvrches. He played guitar for the Scottish post-rock band Aereogramme until their breakup in 2007. Cook also composes music for film and television and is a member of the rock band The Unwinding Hours. Biography Prior to the formation of Aereogramme, Cook, who was using the alias Johnny Dymes, was a member of Les Tinglies. In 1998, Cook founded Aereogramme with Craig B., Campbell McNeil and Martin Scott. The band released their debut album ''A Story in White'' in 2001, through Chemikal Underground record label. The band's second album, ''Sleep and Release'' (2003) was followed by '' Seclusion'' in (2004). The band released their last album, ''My Heart Has a Wish That You Would Not Go'' in 2007 and disbanded at the same year. Chemikal Underground
Chemikal Underground is an independent record label set up in 1994 at Glasgow, Scotland by rock band The Delgados. It was set up to release their first single, "Monica Webster" / "Brand New Car" and went on to break many new Scottish bands in the nineties. When the second Chemikal Underground release by Bis, ''The Secret Vampire Soundtrack EP'' was successful, earning them a slot on ''Top of the Pops'', the label was able to expand. To date, ''The Secret Vampire Soundtrack'' is the only Top 40 hit released on Chemikal Underground. Further success followed with the debut albums by Mogwai and Arab Strap. Karine Polwart
Karine Polwart ( ) (born 23 December 1970) is a Scottish singer-songwriter. She writes and performs music with a strong folk and roots feel, her songs dealing with a variety of issues from alcoholism to genocide. She has been most recognised for her solo career, winning three awards at the BBC Folk Awards in 2005, and was previously a member of Malinky and Battlefield Band. ''Screen Violence'' is the fourth studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches. It was released on 27 August 2021 through EMI Records in the UK and Glassnote Records in the US. Lead single " He Said She Said" was released on 19 April. The album was announced alongside the second single, "How Not to Drown", a collaboration with Robert Smith, lead singer of the Cure. The album was promoted with a North American tour from November to December 2021. Background and recording The album began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as ideas shared over video calls and audio-sharing programs. It was produced by the band and recorded between Glasgow and Los Angeles. Frontwoman Lauren Mayberry said it felt "freeing initially" for the album to start out as something "escapist" but that the lyrics ended up being "definitely still personal". ''Love Is Dead'' is the third studio album by Scottish synth-pop band Chvrches. It was released on 25 May 2018 by Virgin EMI Records and Goodbye Records. The album was co-produced by Greg Kurstin, marking the first time the band have worked with outside producers. The band collaborated with David Stewart from Eurythmics and Matt Berninger from The National during production. The album was announced by Martin Doherty at the start of January 2018, with frontwoman Lauren Mayberry accidentally revealing the album's name in a since-deleted interview that same month. ''My Heart Has a Wish That You Would Not Go'' is the fourth and final studio album by Scottish people, Scottish band Aereogramme. The band drew the album name from the 1971 William Peter Blatty novel, ''The Exorcist (novel), The Exorcist''. It was released on 5 February 2007 in the UK and Europe by Chemikal Underground, and on 6 February 2007 in North America by Sonic Unyon. The album was preceded by the single "Barriers" on 29 January 2007, which was released on 7" vinyl with the exclusive B-side "Dissolve". Vocalist Craig B. revealed that the delay between ''My Heart Has a Wish'' and the band's previous release, 2004's ''Seclusion (Aereogramme album), Seclusion'', was partly due to losing his singing voice for six months.
