''I dolci inganni'' (internationally released as ''Sweet Deceptions'') is a 1960 Italian drama film directed by Alberto Lattuada. The film tells one day in the life of a young adolescent girl who is discovering her sexuality. Plot Francesca ( Catherine Spaak), a 17-year-old girl, who has a vivid dream of making love to Enrico (Christian Marquand), a 37-year-old divorced architect and family friend. She skips school to watch lovers as she contemplates whether she should act on her feelings. Alberto Lattuada
Alberto Lattuada (; 13 November 1914 – 3 July 2005) was an Italian film director. Career Lattuada was born in Vaprio d'Adda, the son of composer Felice Lattuada. He was initially interested in literature, becoming, while still a student, a member of the editorial staff of the antifascist fortnightly ''Camminare...'' (1932) and part of the artists' group ''Corrente di Vita'' (1938). Before entering the film industry, Lattuada's father made him complete his studies as an architect even though he recognized his desire to make movies. He began his film career as a screenwriter and assistant director on Mario Soldati's '' Piccolo mondo antico'' ("Old-Fashioned World", 1940). The first film he directed was ''Giacomo l'idealista'' (1943). '' Luci del Varietà'' (1950), co-directed with Federico Fellini, was the latter's first directorial endeavour. Marilù Tolo (born Maria Lucia Tolo; 16 January 1944) is an Italian film actress. She appeared in more than 60 films between 1960 and 1985. Life and career Born in Rome, Tolo, at a very young age, worked as an assistant of Mario Riva in the RAI variety show ''Il Musichiere''. She made her film debut at 16 years old in Alberto Lattuada's '' Sweet Deceptions''. She was also a fashion model, and a close friend of Italian stylist Valentino. Giacomo Furia
Giacomo Matteo Furia (2 January 1925 – 5 June 2015) was an Italian film, television and stage actor. He appeared in more than 130 films between 1948 and 1998. Life and career Born in Arienzo, near Caserta, Furia started his acting career thanks to Eduardo De Filippo, he had met through an after-school summer job; he made his professional debut on stage in 1945, in De Filippo's "Napoli milionaria". He made his film debut three years later, in Mario Mattoli's '' Assunta Spina''; mainly cast in character roles, he was often a sidekick of Totò, notably landing a major role in ''The Band of Honest Men''. His credits include films directed by Federico Fellini, Vittorio De Sica, Roberto Rossellini and Francesco Rosi. In 1997 Furia released an autobiography written in collaboration with Michele Avitabile, ''Le maggiorate, il principe e l'ultimo degli onesti''. He died on 5 June 2015, aged 90. Carla Mignone, known by her stage name Milly, (Alessandria, Piemonte, Kingdom of Italy; 26 February 1905 - Nepi, Viterbo, Italy; 22 September 1980) was an Italian singer, actress and cabaret performer. Biography Her father abandoned her family in 1910 and she was brought up by her mother. She was the sister of Italian comedian Totò Mignone, with whom, along with her sister Mity, she performed as a child. As a teenager she worked at the Teatro Fiandra where she debuted as a singer in 1925. During this time, Prince Umberto di Savoia fell in love with her. Her sister, Mity Mignone, married Mario Mattòli. She moved to the U.S. before World War II but returned to Italy after the war's end. Catherine Spaak (3 April 1945 – 17 April 2022) was a French-born Italian actress and singer who acted in mostly in Italian films with some Hollywood and international productions. She is best known for her roles in the films ''Il Sorpasso'' (1962), ''The Empty Canvas'' (1963) and ''The Cat o' Nine Tails'' (1971). Early life Spaak was born on 3 April 1945 just outside of Paris in Boulogne-Billancourt, Hauts-de-Seine, France, to former actress Claudie Clèves (née Alice Perrier) and Belgian screenwriter Charles Spaak. Her older sister was actress Agnès Spaak.
