"I Really Love You" is a song written by Leroy Swearingen, and originally recorded by his Steubenville, Ohio, vocal group called The StereosThe Stereosat Allmusic in 1961. Background The lead singer on the original recording was Ronnie Collins. This song featured the percussion sounds of people walking in rhythm, first heard in the introduction, as well as between the verses and the Bridge section, and finally heard in the outro before the song's fade. The bass vocal is heard singing the doo wop nonsensical syllables, as well as the Bridge section of the song. The Stereos
The Stereos were an American pop/rock/ doo-wop group from Steubenville, Ohio. They began as The Buckeyes around 1955 with members Bruce Robinson and Ronnie Collins, and released two singles on the Cincinnati label Deluxe Records in 1957. In 1959, the group added Leroy Swearingen and released their first single as The Stereos, "A Love for Only You"; it flopped, and Swearingen left the group to be replaced by Nathaniel Hicks. Swearingen, however, wrote the song " I Really Love You", which became their biggest hit, peaking at number 15 on the U.S. Black Singles chart and number 29 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Steubenville is a city in and the county seat of Jefferson County, Ohio, United States. Located along the Ohio River 33 miles west of Pittsburgh, it had a population of 18,161 at the 2020 census.
