I Corps (Russian Empire)
The 1st Army Corps (russian: 1-й армейский корпус) was a formation in the Imperial Russian Army, formed in the 1870s. It took part in the Russo-Turkish War (1877–78), Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78, and later, in August 1914, the 1st Army Corps fought as part of the 2nd Army (Russian Empire), Second Army in the Battle of Tannenberg (1914), Battle of Tannenberg. There, it was defeated by the German Army (German Empire), Germans along with the rest of the Second Army. During the rest of World War I, it took part in other operations, up until around 1918. Nikolay Iudovich Ivanov
Nikolai Iudovich Ivanov (russian: Никола́й Иу́дович Ива́нов, tr. ; 1851 – 27 January 1919) was a Russian artillery general in the Imperial Russian Army. Family Ivanov's family origin was debatable, some sources say that Ivanov came from a noble family originated from the Kaluga Governorate, but other sources told that he was the son of a cantonist. Despite all of these sources about his family, the true identity of where his family originated from is still a mystery. Early life Ivanov was born on 22 July 1851 (based on the old calendar at use in the Russian Empire at that time), in Mosalsk in the Kaluga Governorate. He attended the 2nd Cadet Corps and the Pavlovsky Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg at an early age, and graduated from the Mikhailovsky Artillery School in 1869, and served in the 3rd Grenadier Guards and artillery brigades. This article lists Imperial Russian Army formations and units in 1914 prior to World War I mobilisation for the Russian invasion of Prussia and the liberation Austro-Hungarian province of Galicia. Leonid Konstantinovich Artamonov (russian: Леони́д Константи́нович Артамо́нов; 25 February 1859 – 1 January 1932) was a Russian military engineer, adviser and general, geographer and traveler, explorer of Africa, writer, veteran of the First World War and the Russo-Japanese War.
