I Believe (Tears For Fears Song)
"I Believe (A Soulful Re-Recording)" is a single by the British band Tears for Fears. It was the band's eleventh single release, and as a live re-recording of a song from their second LP ''Songs from the Big Chair'', it effectively served as that album's fifth single. It was Tears for Fears' ninth UK Top 40 hit (peaking at #23). The song also reached the Top 10 in Ireland and peaked at #28 in New Zealand. The song was written by Roland Orzabal who had originally planned to offer it to British musician Robert Wyatt to record, although it was later decided that Tears for Fears would record the song themselves for their album ''Songs from the Big Chair''. Additionally, a cover of Robert Wyatt's "Sea Song" served as the single's B-side. The album version of "I Believe" is dedicated to Wyatt in the liner notes. Tears for Fears are an English pop rock band formed in Bath, England, in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, Tears for Fears were associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 1980s, and attained international chart success. The band's debut album, ''The Hurting'' (1983), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart, and their first three hit singles – "Mad World", "Change", and "Pale Shelter" – all reached the top five in the UK Singles Chart. Will Gregory
William Owen Gregory (born 17 September 1959) is an English musician and record producer. He is best known as the lead keyboardist, producer, and composer of the electronic music duo Goldfrapp. Early life Gregory was born in Bristol, the son of an actress and an opera chorus-line singer. "I got into music kind of by default as it was the only thing I was good at – I was the weird one at school who practiced the piano during lunch break. Manny Elias
Manny Elias (born 21 February 1953) is an Indian drummer and record producer of British descent. He is notable for being the original drummer with Tears for Fears during the 1980s. Originally a member of the rock band Interview from Bathford, Somerset, Elias began working with Tears for Fears in 1981 and drummed on the albums ''The Hurting'' and ''Songs from the Big Chair'', as well as participating in their subsequent tours. Elias is credited as an official member of Tears for Fears on those two albums, and appears in six of the band's promotional videos from that era. In addition to that, he has co-writing credits on "The Way You Are" and "The Working Hour". Ian Christopher Stanley (born 28 February 1957) is a British musician, songwriter and record producer. He was previously a member of the English band Tears for Fears for most of the 1980s, and played a key role in the making of their multi-platinum selling second studio album ''Songs from the Big Chair''. Curt Smith (born 24 June 1961) is a British singer, songwriter, musician, record producer, and co-founding member of the pop rock band Tears for Fears along with childhood friend Roland Orzabal. Smith plays bass guitar, has co-written several of the band's songs, and sings lead vocals on the hits "Mad World", "Pale Shelter", "Change", " The Way You Are", "Everybody Wants to Rule the World", and "Advice for the Young at Heart".
