IUP Portfolio
The IUP Portfolio is an education platform for Swedish schools, focused around the students individual development plan and learning portfolio. It is released under the GNU General Public License. History In 2006 the Swedish government created a new law. It said that every pupil in K-12 schools, has to have an individual development plan called an IUP (''Individuell Utveckling Plan''). This plan's goals are created in twice-yearly talks between the pupil, parent and teacher. The purpose of having an online IUP is for all parties to be able to access the document at any time and be able to follow up on the goals. Goals for the project Teacher's view The first thing that a teacher sees is a matrix with students' names in rows and semesters in the columns. In each cell there is a web form ready to be filled in by a teacher who will write down what was agreed upon during the talks. The form is separated into these questions *Where do we stand now? *Where are we going? *How ...

IUP (software)
The IUP Portable User Interface is a computer software development kit that provides a portable, scriptable toolkit to build graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using the programming languages C, Perl, Lua, Nim and Zig among others. This allows rapid, zero-compile prototyping and refinement of deployable GUI applications. IUP's purpose is to allow programs user interface to run in different systems in unmodified form. It provides this ability by binding Lua with its C/C++ code, or simply writing C to the application programming interface (API). It handles user interface elements by using native controls provided by native APIs, such as Windows API in Windows, GTK+ in Linux, and Motif-LessTif in older Unices. It also provides some custom developed controls using graphics APIs such as CD - Canvas Draw or OpenGL. Features IUP's distinguishing features include: * ANSI C API, one of the few plain C-capable toolkits, * Single API for Windows or Linux, * Built in support for Lua s ...

Industrial Union Party
The Industrial Union Party (IUP) was a US DeLeonist political party. The party proclaimed itself on 7 July 1933 at 1032 Prospect Avenue, Bronx, Branch headquarters of its predecessor Industrial Union League (IUL). The new IUP immediately announced candidates in the New York City elections: Adolph Silver for Mayor, Irving Oring for Comptroller, and Sam Brandon for President of Alderman. The party's publication, the ''Industrial Unionist'', was published first in May 1932 with its final issue in 1950. Most of the IUP would later reconstitute itself as the League for Socialist Reconstruction. Noting the roots of IUP in the Socialist Labor Party (SLP), IUP's split from the SLP reflected the impact of the Great Depression and the inability of the SLP to adjust to new events. Yet the immediate roots of the Industrial Union League were in the SLP's mass expulsion of Section Bronx during the 1920s. (''Industrial Unionist'' did not appear until 1932, but its first issue included L ...

Pregnancy
Pregnancy is the time during which one or more offspring develops ( gestates) inside a woman's uterus (womb). A multiple pregnancy involves more than one offspring, such as with twins. Pregnancy usually occurs by sexual intercourse, but can also occur through assisted reproductive technology procedures. A pregnancy may end in a live birth, a miscarriage, an induced abortion, or a stillbirth. Childbirth typically occurs around 40 weeks from the start of the last menstrual period (LMP), a span known as the gestational age. This is just over nine months. Counting by fertilization age, the length is about 38 weeks. Pregnancy is "the presence of an implanted human embryo or fetus in the uterus"; implantation occurs on average 8–9 days after fertilization. An '' embryo'' is the term for the developing offspring during the first seven weeks following implantation (i.e. ten weeks' gestational age), after which the term ''fetus'' is used until birth. Signs an ...

Intrinsically Unstructured Protein
In molecular biology, an intrinsically disordered protein (IDP) is a protein that lacks a fixed or ordered three-dimensional structure, typically in the absence of its macromolecular interaction partners, such as other proteins or RNA. IDPs range from fully unstructured to partially structured and include random coil, molten globule-like aggregates, or flexible linkers in large multi-domain proteins. They are sometimes considered as a separate class of proteins along with globular, fibrous and membrane proteins. IDPs are a very large and functionally important class of proteins and their discovery has disproved the idea that three-dimensional structures of proteins must be fixed to accomplish their biological functions. For example, IDPs have been identified to participate in weak multivalent interactions that are highly cooperative and dynamic, lending them importance in DNA regulation and in cell signaling. Many IDPs can also adopt a fixed three-dimensional structu ...
