IUPUI Jaguars Men's Basketball
The IUPUI Jaguars men's basketball team is the men's basketball team that represents Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana, United States. The school's team currently competes in the Horizon League. History The first year of IUPUI basketball was 1971–72 and the school competed as an NCAA Division III Independent. From 1982 to 2014, the Jaguars played on campus at IUPUI Gymnasium, The Jungle, which seated 1,215. Beginning with the 2014–15 IUPUI Jaguars men's basketball team, 2014–15 season, the Jaguars play their home games at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum on the Indiana State Fair, State Fairgrounds. Prior to the Jaguars' move, the arena underwent a $63 million renovation to modernize it for the fair and for basketball. The renovated arena has capacity for 6,800. Horizon League
The Horizon League is an 11-school collegiate athletic conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I, whose members are located in and near the Great Lakes region. The Horizon League founded in 1979 as the Midwestern City Conference. The conference changed its name to Midwestern Collegiate Conference in 1985 and then the Horizon League in 2001. The conference started with a membership of six teams and has fluctuated in size with 24 different schools as members at different times. The League currently has 11 members. Its most recent membership changes occurred on July 1, 2022 with the departure of the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) to the Missouri Valley Conference. The NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, branded as NCAA March Madness and commonly called March Madness, is a single-elimination tournament played each spring in the United States, currently featuring 68 college basketball teams from the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to determine the national championship. Ron Hunter
Ronald Eugene Hunter (born April 7, 1964) is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach of the Tulane University Green Wave. His son, R. J. Hunter, was a first-round draft pick for the Boston Celtics. High school Hunter attended and played for Chaminade-Julienne High School in Dayton, Ohio from 1978 to 1982. Coaching career IUPUI From 1994 to 2011, Hunter served as the head coach at IUPUI. Under his direction, the team advanced from an NAIA program to NCAA Division I. In its third season as a Division I program, Hunter led IUPUI to its first, and thus far only, NCAA tournament appearance in 2003. On January 24, 2008, Hunter coached a game against Oakland University while barefoot. 2009–10 Princeton Tigers Men's Basketball Team
The 2009–10 Princeton Tigers men's basketball team represented Princeton University in intercollegiate college basketball during the 2009–10 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The head coach was Sydney Johnson and the team captains were Nick Lake and Marcus Schroeder. The team played its home games in the Jadwin Gymnasium on the University campus in Princeton, New Jersey, and was the runner-up of the Ivy League, which earned them an invitation to the 16-team 2010 College Basketball Invitational single-elimination tournament where they were advanced to the third round to play in the semifinals. The Hofstra Pride men's basketball team is the basketball team that represents Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, United States. Hofstra played its first game in 1936, and currently competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. Arenas The Hofstra Pride play their games at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. College Basketball Invitational
The College Basketball Invitational (CBI) is a men's college basketball tournament created in 2007 by The Gazelle Group. The inaugural tournament occurred after the conclusion of the 2007–08 men's college basketball regular season. The CBI selects 16 teams that are not selected for the NCAA Tournament or the National Invitation Tournament (NIT), and who are willing to pay a $50,000 entry fee to participate. In the CBI, prior to 2020 teams competed on home courts. After the post-COVID pandemic revival, the tournament has been staged at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida. The CBI is a single-elimination tournament. Prior to 2020, the tournament was single elimination until the final two teams were determined, after which the championship was determined by a championship series with a best-two-out-of-three format.
