The 4th congressional district of South Carolina is a congressional district in The Upstate, upstate South Carolina bordering North Carolina. It includes parts of Greenville County, South Carolina, Greenville and Spartanburg County, South Carolina, Spartanburg counties. Stateburg is a census-designated place (CDP) in the High Hills of Santee in Sumter County, South Carolina, United States. The population was 1,380 at the 2010 census. It is included in the Sumter, South Carolina Metropolitan Statistical Area. Stateburg is located within the larger Stateburg Historic District. Thomas Sumter
Thomas Sumter (August 14, 1734June 1, 1832) was a soldier in the Colony of Virginia militia; a brigadier general in the South Carolina militia during the American Revolution, a planter, and a politician.
