With the hull moulding done by Pauger Composites in Hungary. This is the designer and builders first IMOCA 60 and it incorporates a lot of thinking of the designer Mini 6.5 and Class 40 yachts. It is the first SCOW design hull and had a different approach to the foil configuration than all the other designs. The main difference being the ability to retract the foils. IMOCA 60
The IMOCA ("Open 60"), is a 60ft development class monohull sailing yacht administered by the International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA). The class pinnacle event are single or two person ocean races, such as the Route du Rhum and the Vendée Globe and this has been intimately linked to design development within the class. Class description This class is of "open" design, this means the boat is measurement controlled and therefore designers have freedom within the rules. Design restrictions include the length (between 59 and ) and maximum draft (). There are no explicit restrictions on beam, mast height or sail area although these are all indirectly controlled by flotation and self-righting capability requirements. Pip Hare
Pip Hare, earlier known as Pip Hildesley, is a British yachtswoman, journalist and sailing coach. She was an entrant in the 2020 Vendée Globe round-the-world yacht race. Early life Hare grew up in East Anglia and began sailing at the age of 16. Career Hare is a professional sailing coach and a writer for ''Yachting World''. In 2013 she wrote and presented a YouTube series for the magazine, entitled “Sail Faster Sail Safer”. Hare has competed in international yacht races such as the Transat Jacques Vabre and the Rolex Fastnet race. In 2009 she competed in the OSTAR transatlantic race.
