Alfred Ilg
Alfred Heinrich Ilg (30 March 1854 – 7 January 1916) was a Swiss engineer and First Minister of State to Ethiopian Emperor Menelik II. He was born in Frauenfeld, Switzerland and died in Zurich. Early life In 1854, Ilg was born into a poor household in Frauenfeld. After his stepfather died, he began to train as a mechanic. Later he studied to become an engineer at the Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich. He was not so much interested in a career in Switzerland, but in a foreign country and after he became aware of a job in Abyssinia. Menelik II was inspired in hiring Alfred Ilg by the technical development Sudan made with help of the Swiss General Governor Werner Munzinger. Melinek preferred a Swiss technician, not one of a colonial power who he did not trust. Bernhard Ilg (born in Geislingen an der Steige on February 8, 1956) is a German politician of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). He is Mayor ('' Oberbürgermeister'') of the Große Kreisstadt Heidenheim an der Brenz in Baden-Württemberg's region of Ostwürttemberg. He graduated in Public management (''Diplom-Verwaltungswirt'') in 1980. Thereafter he was district bailiff (''Kreisamtmann'') at the Landratsamt of Biberach where he was in charge of finance and carrying out special tasks until 1986. From 1986 to November 28, 1999, Ilg was Mayor of Salach. He is ''Oberbürgermeister'' of Heidenheim since February 1, 2000, re-elected on November 11, 2007. In 2000, he was elected with a narrow majority; however, in 2007 he received 82.27 percent of votes. Dieter Josef Ilg (born September 30, 1961 in Offenburg) is a German jazz double-bassist. He worked early in his career with Joe Viera in the early 1980s, then with Randy Brecker, the WDR Big Band, Bennie Wallace, Albert Mangelsdorff, Wolfgang Dauner, Charlie Mariano, Marc Copland, Jeff Hirshfield, Wolfgang Muthspiel and others. Frances Ilg
Frances Lillian Ilg (1902– July 26, 1981) was an American pediatrician and professor at Yale University. She was an expert in infant and child development, as co-founder and director of the Gesell Institute of Child Development. Early life and education Frances Ilg was born in Oak Park, Illinois, the daughter of Joseph Frank Ilg and Leonore Petersen Ilg. Her father worked for the railroad; her maternal grandparents were born in Norway. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1925. She trained as a physician at Cornell Medical School, earning her medical degree in 1929. Career Ilg was an assistant professor of child development of Yale University from 1937 to 1947. In 1950, she co-founded the Gesell Institute in New Haven with two colleagues, psychologist Louise Bates Ames and Janet Learned Rodell. Konrad Ilg
Konrad Ilg (25 January 1877 – 12 August 1954) was a Swiss trade unionist and politician. History Born in Ermatingen, Ilg completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith. He started his journeyman years in Zurich, where he joined the Zurich Locksmiths' Union, then in 1903 moved to Lausanne, becoming president of its local locksmiths' union in 1905, and successfully promoting the merger of the local metalworkers' unions into the Workers' Union, becoming its president in 1908. In this role, he led a major strike of construction workers. In 1909, Ilg was elected as central secretary of the Swiss Metalworkers' Union in Bern. He championed its merger into the Swiss Metalworkers' and Watchmakers' Union in 1915, becoming its central president for Romandy, then in 1917 the union's central president.
