IFSEC International
IFSEC International is an annual trade fair and conference for the global security industry. Organised by Informa Markets, it is held at ExCeL London alongside FIREX International, Safety & Health Expo and Facilities Show. It was launched in London in 1974, hosting British and international security professionals, suppliers and organisations. IFSEC International is one of the largest events in its industry. In 2018 it hosted more than 27,350 visitors including 500 exhibitors, representing physical security, cybersecurity and integrated security. Its seminar programme was chaired by journalist Frank Gardner. Security
Security is protection from, or resilience against, potential harm (or other unwanted coercive change) caused by others, by restraining the freedom of others to act. Beneficiaries (technically referents) of security may be of persons and social groups, objects and institutions, ecosystems or any other entity or phenomenon vulnerable to unwanted change. Frank Gardner (journalist)
Francis Rolleston Gardner (born 31 July 1961) is a British journalist and author. He is currently the BBC's Security Correspondent. His parents were both diplomats and his early life was spent in The Hague before being educated at Saint Ronan's School, and Marlborough College. He was commissioned into the British Army Reserves as a second lieutenant joining the 4th Volunteer Battalion, the Royal Green Jackets in September 1984. After a career working in various jobs in the Middle East, including nine years as an investment banker, Gardner joined BBC World as a producer and reporter in 1995. He became the BBC's first full-time Gulf correspondent in 1997, before being appointed BBC Middle East correspondent in 1999. After the 11 September attacks on New York, Gardner specialised in covering stories related to the War on Terror. Electrical Contractors' Association
ECA (formerly the Electrical Contractors' Association) is the main trade association for companies involved in electrotechnical and other technical engineering projects in England, Northern Ireland and Wales. The National Security Inspectorate, or NSI, is an independent not for profit UKAS accredited certification body operating in the United Kingdom. It is not a Trade association. It serves to approve around 1800 professional security and fire safety providers in accordance with International, British and Industry Standards and Codes of Practise, who are listed in the NSI Company Finder. The British Security Industry Association (BSIA), based in London and Worcester, United Kingdom, is a British trade association founded in January 1967 in London. It represents the UK security industry. The BSIA represents about 70% of the UK private security industry with members ranging from SMEs to international organisations. Security convergence refers to the convergence of two historically distinct security functions – physical security and information security – within enterprises; both are integral parts of a coherent risk management program. Security convergence is motivated by the recognition that corporate assets are increasingly information-based. In the past, physical assets demanded the bulk of protection efforts, whereas information assets are demanding increasing attention.
