ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship
ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship is one of the seven Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Championships. Since 1963, the winner is awarded the ''Glen S. Foster Trophy'', named after Glen Foster for his interest in collegiate sailing and devotion to singlehanded competition. Second place finisher receives the ''George Griswold Trophy''. The event is sailed in cat-rigged boats which have been designed for singlehanded sailing or which are adaptable to singlehanded sailing. The winner of this Championship may be invited to sail in United States Singlehanded Championship for the ''George O’Day Trophy'' organized by US Sailing The United States Sailing Association (US Sailing) is the national governing body for sailing in the United States. Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association National Championships
The Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) holds National Championships in seven different categories: * Coed Dinghy * Women’s Dinghy *Team Racing * Women's Team Racing * Men’s Singlehanded * Women’s Singlehanded *Match Racing (previously Sloop) The college team that compiles the best overall record in the six categories is awarded the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy. Teams must qualify for the National Championships through conference championships. All regattas are scored low-point with no throw-out races. Racing is done on short courses. Boats are usually rotated each race so that each team sails each boat in the fleet once. The ICSA National Championships rotate amongst ICSA's seven different conferences each year. Since college sailing is a fall and spring sport, three of these championships are held in the fall and three are held in the spring. Cy Chris Thompson (born 1 July 1988 in Saint Thomas) is a Virgin Islands sailor. College He claimed the 2008 ICSA Men's Singlehanded National Championship in his sophomore year and finished runner-up at the 2010 national championship and placed in the top ten in his fourth berths at singlehanded nationals. He was the 2011 NEISA Sailor of the Year and was a finalist for the 2011 Everett Morris Memorial Trophy as College Sailor of the Year. Andrew W. Campbell (born 3 February 1984 in Toms River, New Jersey) is an American yachtsman. Raised in Toms River, New Jersey, Campbell first learned to sail as a child in Toms River with the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association and moved to San Diego, California at the age of eight. Campbell is the latest in a long lineage of sailing greats from the San Diego Yacht Club, in the unusual design of the Naples Sabot, commonly used for junior programs on the West Coast. Mark Mendelblatt (born February 19, 1973) is an American yachtsman. Married to windsurfer Carolina Mendelblatt (née Borges), he primarily sails the Laser Radial, a one-design class of small ( long, and ) single-handed sailing dinghy. Beginning in 2005, he also started to race in the two-person keelboat Star class. At age 11, he won the International Optimist Dinghy National Sailing Championships, and at age 18, he won the Laser II World Championships.
