ICRC International T20 Cricket Tournament For People With Physical Disabilities
The ICRC International T20 Cricket Tournament was a five-team Twenty20 cricket competition for people with physical disabilities. It was held from 2â10 September 2015 in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Organised by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Bangladesh Cricket Board, and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan, it is the first multi team tournament of its kind. Its slogan was âWe Can Do It Tooâ. Twenty20 Cricket
Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. In a Twenty20 game, the two teams have a single innings each, which is restricted to a maximum of 20 overs. Together with first-class and List A cricket, Twenty20 is one of the three current forms of cricket recognised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as being at the highest international or domestic level. A typical Twenty20 game is completed in about two and a half hours, with each innings lasting around 70 minutes and an official 10-minute break between the innings. Wheelchair Cricketers Welfare Association Of Bangladesh
Wheelchair Cricket Welfare Association Bangladesh (WCWAB) is a national level non-government and non profit voluntary organization established for the development of the physically challenged people of Bangladesh. The organization was formed by wheelchair cricketer Mohammad Mohasin. The organization has been working for the disabled people since 2010 aiming to incorporate the persons with disabilities & to strengthen in mainstream society. In 2016, the organization registered under the Ministry of Social Welfare (Bangladesh), Social Welfare Department of Bangladesh. WCWAB have elected management board. The warriors on the wheel chairs started their journey of playing cricket in 2010. There are an estimated 16 million people with disabilities in Bangladesh, or 10% of the country's population. In 2004, the prevalence of disability was about 6% among those below the age of 18 and about 14% among those above that age. People in Bangladesh living with disabilities are entitled to government support, but programs have been limited in scope and restricted to urban areas, and the question of disability has not been integrated into general development programs. In response, NGOs such as the Centre for Disability in Development have moved to provide assistance to people with disabilities.
