ICEkunion
ICEkunion() is a company that was created by Sigongsa, Seoul Munhwasa(two of the four largest media empires in Korea) and Haksan Publishing that published South Korean manhwa comics in the United States. The firm's industry experience come from Studio ICE. Titles were licensed from manhwa publishing companies that originally sold them in The Republic of Korea in the Korean language. According to ainterview conducted by ICV2 the original creators themselves were involved in the adaptation process for the English-language markets. In July 2007 it was announced through PW Comic Week that Ice Kunion was going to be completely absorbed by Yen Press, Hatchette's new manga impress. Manga released through ICEkunion is expected to be picked up through the new company, but will not release until spring 2008. Hissing (manhwa)
''Hissing'' (히싱 ''Hi-sing'') is a Korean manhwa series written and illustrated by Kang Eun-young. Originally serialized in the magazine ''Wink'', ''Hissing'' was later released in 6 volumes between January 2004 and August 2005 by Seoul Cultural Publishers, Inc. ICEkunion licensed the series for an English release and published 3 volumes, but was absorbed into the Hachette Book Group USA's graphic novel imprint Yen Press. Yen Press continued to release ''Hissing'', and the final volume was made available in March 2009. Western critics gave the series mixed reviews, with its art and storytelling both criticized and applauded. Media ''Hissing'', written and illustrated by Kang Eun-young, was published in Korea by Seoul Cultural Publishers, Inc. ''Moon Boy'' (月요일 소년) is a Korean manhwa created by Korean author Lee Young-you. The series, as of June 2009 (July '09 Party issue), is completed in Korea. It is complete with nine volumes. Nine of them have been translated and released in the United States and other parts of the world. It is translated into English by Yen Press, license absorbed from ICEkunion following the latter's dissolution. Plot Five years before the story begins, a fifth grade girl named Myung-Ee Joo is on her way to school when she accidentally bumps into a classmate, a boy named Yu-Da Lee. Yu-Da and Myung-Ee both have an instant dislike of each other but they have one thing in common; eyes that turn red at night when the moon's out. Later, Myung-Ee is asked out on a date by a tenth-grader and is annoyed at Yu-Da for his suspicions that the older boy wished to take advantage of her. ''Heavenly Executioner Chiwoo''(치우천하) is a manhwa created by Park KangHo and Lee HaNa. The series was first introduced to american audiences in the 2005 San Diego Comic-Con as part of the manhwa booth being run by the Korea Culture & Contents Agency. ''The Antique Gift Shop'' () is a manhwa created by Lee Eun. In the United States, Yen Press (originally Ice Kunion) publishes the series. The series is about Bun-nyuh Cho, a girl who once attended the famous S University with stellar grades who was tricked by her grandmother to run an antique shop instead. But the cursed antiques have their own way of selecting and affecting the lives of their new owners, or mysteriously finding a way back to their old masters.
