ICC Africa Under-19 Championships
ICC U19 Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier (formerly ICC Africa Under-19 Championships) are a series of regular cricket tournaments organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for under-19 teams from its African member nations. It is the regional qualifier for the ICC Under-19 World Cup. The initial tournament was staged in 2001 but did not return until 2007. 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualification
The 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup qualification was an international 50-over cricket tournament played to qualify for 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Qualified teams Africa Division 2 It was held in Potchefstroom, South Africa from 19 to 28 August 2018. The top three teams (Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Tanzania national under-19 cricket team, Tanzania) were promoted to Division 1 where they competed with Kenya, Namibia and Uganda. 2002 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2002 Under-19 Cricket World Cup was played in New Zealand from 19 January to 9 February 2002. A total of 16 sides competed in the tournament with Australia defeating South Africa in the final. The 2011 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier was an event organised by the International Cricket Council held in Ireland in July, 2011. 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was a one-day cricket competition for sixteen international U-19 cricketing teams which was held in August 2012. This was the ninth time that the tournament was held since its inception back in 1988. The tournament was held in Australia for the second time after previously hosting it in 1988 with the tournament being held across three cities (Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Townsville). Six teams qualified from the qualifying event as they joined the full members that automatically qualified through to the World Cup. The teams were separated into four groups of four with the top two teams qualifying through to the Super League while the bottom two will compete in the Plate Championship. After finishing second in their group, India beat Australia in the final by six wickets to win their third title after previously winning in 2000 and 2008. 2009 ICC Africa Under-19 Championships
The 2009 ICC Africa Under-19 Championships were a series of two events that served as qualification for the 2009 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. The first stage of the championship saw the affiliate nations competing for a place in the finals. This competition was held from 27 February to 5 March in Maputo, Mozambique. Initially it was intended for two teams to go through but due to concern over Kenya's ability, they were included in the qualifying finals limiting the free spaces to one. As a result, only the champions, Sierra Leone, made it through into the eight team finals. The finals were held from 27 April to 4 May in Lusaka, Zambia. 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was the eighth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and took place in New Zealand. Since 1998, the tournament has been held every 2 years. This edition had 16 teams competing in 44 matches between 15 and 30 January 2010. These included the 10 ICC Full Members and 6 Qualifiers. The tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Kenya, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) moved it to New Zealand after an inspection in June 2009 found that it would be unrealistic to expect Kenya to complete preparations in time. Australia won the tournament, beating Pakistan in the final by 25 runs. South African Dominic Hendricks scored the most runs in the tournament, and Raymond Haoda of Papua New Guinea claimed the most wickets. 2005 ICC Africa/East Asia-Pacific Under-19 Championship
The 2005 ICC Africa/East Asia-Pacific Under-19 Championship was a cricket tournament held in South Africa from 21–26 August 2005, during the 2005 international season. All matches were held at the Willowmoore Park complex in Benoni, Gauteng. Namibia won the tournament by defeating Uganda in the final, with both teams qualifying for the 2006 Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka. Tanzanian batsman Benson Mwita led the competition in runs scored, while Kenya's Rohit Vekaria took the most wickets. Ugandan all-rounder Ronald Ssemanda was Player of the Final. The tournament was jointly organised by the African Cricket Association (ACA) and ICC East Asia-Pacific (EAP), with eight teams (six African and two EAP) participating, divided into two pools for the group stages. 2004 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2004 ICC Under-19 World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament played in Bangladesh from 15 February to 5 March 2004. It was the fifth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the first to be held in Bangladesh. The 2004 World Cup was contested by sixteen teams, including one (Uganda) making its tournament debut. After an initial group stage, the top eight teams played off in a super league to decide the tournament champions, with the non-qualifiers playing a separate "plate" competition. Pakistan and the West Indies eventually progressed to the final, played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, where Pakistan won by 25 runs to claim their maiden title. Papua New Guinea Under-19 Cricket Team
The Papua New Guinea national under-19 cricket team represents the country of Papua New Guinea in Under-19 international cricket. PNG has qualified for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on eight occasions, the most of any associate team in the ICC East Asia-Pacific region. However, the team has only won three matches in World Cup history and has never made it past the first round.
