Iziaslav Yaroslavich ( orv, Изѧславь Ѩрославичь; russian: Изяслав Ярославич; uk, Ізяслав Ярославич; 1024 – 3 October 1078, baptized as ''Demetrius'') was a Kniaz' ( Prince) of Turov and Grand Prince of Kiev from 1054. Iziaslav's children Yaropolk and Sviatopolk would rule the Turov Principality. Their authority was mainly challenged by the Rostilavichi of Rostislav Vsevolodovich. Biography Iziaslav was the oldest son of Yaroslav I the Wise by his second wife Ingigerd Olafsdottir. Iziaslav succeeded his father, after Yaroslav's oldest child, Vladimir (the only child by Yaroslav's first wife), had predeceased his father. Iziaslav was one of the authors of ''"Pravda Yaroslavichiv"'' – a part of the first legal code of Rus, called Russkaya Pravda. He is also credited with the foundation of the Kiev Pechersk Monastery. Iziaslav IV Vladimirovich ( ukr, Ізяслав Володимирович, russian: Изяслав Владимирович) (1186 1236) was the Prince of Terebovl' (1210) and Novgorod-Seversk (until 1235) and Grand Prince of Kiev (1235–1236). He was the son of Vladimir Igorevich. Iziaslav Vladimirovich was an Igorevich (descendant of Igor Sviatoslavich) and a member of a cadet branch of the Ol'govichi (descendants of Oleg Sviatoslavich). According to the Hypatian Chronicle, in 1234, Vladimirovich, with the help of the nomadic Polovtsy, campaigned against Vladimir Riurikovich and Daniil Romanovich of Volyn' and Galich. He defeated them near Torchesk, taking Vladimir prisoner. In the year 1235, Iziaslav IV marched from Kamenets with Mikhail Vsevelodovich, the Poles, the Russians, and the Polovtsy marched against Daniil again but were unsuccessful.
