Ivan Strang
Ivan Strang (born June 1, 1940) is a former Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for West Yellowhead. He served as a member in the Alberta Legislature from 1997 to 2008. Political career Ivan Strang ran for a seat for the first time in the 1997 Alberta general election. He won by a comfortable margin over Liberal incumbent Duco Van Binsbergen to pick up the electoral district of West Yellowhead for the Progressive Conservatives for the first time since they lost it in 1989. Strang won his second term in office with a larger plurality in the 2001 Alberta general election. He defeated two other candidates in that election. West Yellowhead
West Yellowhead is a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada. The district is one of 87 current ridings mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. The district in its early history was a swing riding, changing party hands often. More recently, support has gone to electing candidates from the Progressive Conservatives, who have held the district with sizable majorities since 1997. The current representative is UCP Martin Long who was first elected in the 2019 provincial election. Duco Van Binsbergen (December 17, 1936 – April 4, 2009) was a provincial level politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 1993 to 1997. Robin Ian Campbell (born September 9, 1955) is a Canadian former provincial level politician. He was elected in 2008 to represent the electoral district of West Yellowhead in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He was a member of the former governing Progressive Conservative caucus. He was appointed Minister of Finance and President of the Treasury board by Premier Jim Prentice on September 15, 2014. He lost his seat to Eric Rosendahl in the May 5, 2015 provincial election that also defeated the Progressive Conservative government after 44 years in office. The Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta (often referred to colloquially as Progressive Conservative Party of Alberta) was a provincial centre-right party in the Canadian province of Alberta that existed from 1905 to 2020. The 2001 Alberta general election was held on March 12, 2001 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The incumbent Alberta Progressive Conservative Party, led by Ralph Klein, won a strong majority for its tenth consecutive term in government. The 2004 Alberta general election was held on November 22, 2004 to elect members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. The election was called on October 25, 2004. Premier Ralph Klein decided to go to the polls earlier than the legislated deadline of March 2006. This election was held in conjunction with the 2004 Alberta Senate nominee election. When the election was called, it was expected to be anticlimactic, with Klein cruising to his fourth straight majority, the tenth for his Progressive Conservative Party.
