Italian National Olympic Committee
The Italian National Olympic Committee ( it, Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano, CONI), founded in 1914 and a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is responsible for the development and management of sports activity in Italy. Within Italy, CONI recognizes 44 national sports federations, 19 associate sports disciplines, 15 promotional sports organizations, and 19 organizations for the betterment of sports. In total 95,000 sports clubs with 11,000,000 members are recognized. Its 2016 annual budget is 412,900,000 euros which is primarily funded by the Italian government. Sergio Bertoni
Sergio Bertoni (; 23 September 1915 – 15 February 1995) was an Italian association football manager and player, who played as a striker. With the Italy national team, he won the 1936 Summer Olympics football tournament and the 1938 FIFA World Cup. Club career Born in Pisa, Bertoni played for Pisa Calcio (1935–1938) and Genoa C.F.C. (1938–1946) throughout his club career. International career Bertoni obtained six international caps with the Italy national team between 1936 and 1940, and scored one goal. He won the gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics and the 1938 FIFA World Cup: with Alfredo Foni, Pietro Rava and Ugo Locatelli, he is one of the only four Italian players to have won both tournaments. Annibale Frossi
Annibale Frossi (; 6 July 1911 – 26 February 1999) was an Italian football manager and player, who played as a forward. Frossi is perhaps best known for wearing correctional glasses during his playing years after suffering from myopia from when he was a child. As a footballer, he was a member of the Italy national team, which won the gold medal in the football tournament at the 1936 Summer Olympics, finishing the tournament as top-scorer. As a manager, he is also known for his developments of the theory of catenaccio, which emphasises a defensive style of football. Ugo Locatelli
Ugo Locatelli (; 5 February 1916 – 28 May 1993) was an Italian international footballer who played as a midfielder or as a forward. Regarded as one of Italy's greatest players, he won a gold medal at the 1936 Summer Olympics and a winner's medal at the 1938 FIFA World Cup while playing with the Italy national football team, and is only one of four Italian players to have managed this achievement. Club career Locatelli was born in Toscolano-Maderno, near Brescia, Lombardy. At club level, he had a successful career, winning the Scudetto twice with Internazionale, in 1938 and 1940. He first played for Brescia between 1933 and 1936, aside from a brief loan to Atalanta, before transferring over to Inter, which was known as Ambrosiana Inter Milan at the time, where he remained until 1941. Achille Piccini (; 24 October 1911 – 14 February 1995) was an Italian footballer who competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. A native of Carrara, Piccini played as a midfielder or as a defender. Career Piccini played for several Italian clubs throughout his career, including Fiorentina, Carrarese, Bari and Napoli. Pietro Rava (; 21 January 1916 – 5 November 2006) was an Italian football defender and coach, who played as a full-back. He won the 1936 Summer Olympics and the 1938 FIFA World Cup with the Italian national team. Club career Rava, born in Cassine, Province of Alessandria, played for the clubs U.S. Alessandria (1928–35, 1946–47), Juventus F.C. (1935–46 and 1947–50) and Novara Calcio (1950–51). He won two Italian Cups in the 1937–38 and 1941–42 seasons, and two '' scudetti'' in the 1934–35 and 1949–50 seasons. He was Juventus's captain from 1947 to 1950. Alfredo Foni
Alfredo Foni (; 20 January 1911 – 28 January 1985) was an Italian footballer in the 1930s and later on a coach, who played as a defender. He is one of only four players to have won both an Olympic gold medal and the FIFA World Cup with the Italy national football team. Club career Foni was born in Udine, and he made his professional debut with local club Udinese at the age of 16, in 1927, in the Prima Divisione (the predecessor to the Italian Serie A); he later moved to Lazio in 1929. He later moved to Padova for a brief stint after a few seasons in Roma. Foni later transferred to Juventus in 1934, replacing Virginio Rosetta. Along with teammate Pietro Rava at the Turin club, he formed one of the best defensive partnerships in Italy, and in the world, as they went on to win the 1936 Summer Olympics and 1938 FIFA World Cup with Italy, as well as the 1935 League title with Juventus, as well as two Coppa Italia titles in 1938 and 1942. Bruno Venturini (; 26 September 1911 – 7 March 1991) was an Italian footballer who played as a goalkeeper, and who competed with Italy in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. Career Born in Carrara, Venturini began playing football as a goalkeeper for local side Carrarese Calcio. He later played in Serie A for ACF Fiorentina, Sampierdarenese and A.C. Liguria. He also played in Serie B for Spezia Calcio 1906. Venturini was a member of the Italian Olympic team, which won the gold medal in the 1936 Olympic football tournament.
