Italia In Comune
Italia in Comune (IiC, English: ''Italy in Common'') is a green and progressive political party in Italy. It was founded in April 2018 by mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti, other former members of the Five Star Movement and local non-party independent politicians generally affiliated with the centre-left coalition. History In October 2016, mayor of Parma Federico Pizzarotti left the Five Star Movement (M5S) due to disagreements with the movement's founder, Beppe Grillo and his suspension from the party in the previous May. In the 2012 local elections, Pizzarotti had been the first M5S member to win in a big city, with 60.2% of the vote in the run-off (up from 19.5% in the first round). In the 2017 local elections, Pizzarotti was re-elected mayor without the M5S' support, with 58.9% in the run-off. Federico Pizzarotti
Federico Pizzarotti (born 7 October 1973) is an Italian politician, who served as mayor of Parma from 2012 to 2022. He was member of the Five Star Movement, and is now leader of Italia in Comune. He became the first Five Star Movement mayor in a provincial capital of Italy, after being elected on 21 May 2012 with 60.22% of votes in a runoff election. He left the Five Star Movement on 3 October 2016, after years of tensions with the national leadership of the party that culminated in his suspension in February 2016. Following his departure from the Five Star Movement, he continued his mandate as an independent with the support of the city council group ''Effetto Parma'' (composed of former Five Star Movement councillors who stood by their mayor). 2017 Italian Local Elections
The 2017 Italian local elections were held on Sunday 11 June. If necessary, a run-off vote was held on Sunday 25 June. The term of mayors and councils will last five years, unless an early election is triggered. In the autonomous regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Aosta Valley the elections will be held on 7 May. The elections were characterized by a good performance of the Centre-right coalition and many losses for the Centre-left coalition, which however won in the majority of municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, but lost in the most important cities like Genoa, L'Aquila and Parma; while the Five Star Movement was excluded from the runoffs in all the most important cities. 2019 Sardinian Regional Election
The 2019 Sardinian regional election took place on 24 February 2019. The election was for all 59 elected seats of the Regional Council of Sardinia as well as the President of the Region who, along with the second placed presidential candidate, would also become members of the Regional Council. 2019 Abruzzo Regional Election
The 2019 Abruzzo regional election took place on 10 February 2019. The election was for all 29 elected seats of the Regional Council of Abruzzo as well as the President of the region who, along with the second placed presidential candidate, would also become members of the Regional Council. The ballot resulted in the election of Marco Marsilio, the centre-right candidate, as President of the Regional Council with 48% of the votes. Moreover, the League won a plurality of seats in the Regional Council. Electoral law The candidate who obtains the majority of valid votes at the regional level becomes president. Every candidate must be linked to a party list or a coalition running for the regional council. Civic Area ( it, Area Civica, AC) was a progressive political party in Italy. Led by Giulio Santagata, a former minister in Romano Prodi's second government, AC was mainly composed of former Olivists, a faction of Prodi's loyalists within Democracy is Freedom and, subsequently, the Democratic Party (PD). 2018 Italian General Election
The 2018 Italian general election was held on 4 March 2018 after the Italian Parliament was dissolved by President Sergio Mattarella on 28 December 2017. Voters were electing the 630 members of the Chamber of Deputies and the 315 elective members of the Senate of the Republic for the 18th legislature of the Italian Republic since 1948. The election took place concurrently with the Lombard and Lazio regional elections.
