Israel National Judo Team
The Israel national judo team consists of the men's team coached by Olympic medalist Oren Smadja and the women's team coached by Shany Hershko. The team won a bronze medal at the mixed team event of the 2020 Summer Olympics. Previously, the men's team won a gold medal at the 2005 European Team Championships. Shira Rishony
Shira Rishony ( he, שירה ראשוני, born February 21, 1991) is an Israeli Olympic lightweight judoka. She competed at U48 kg (under 106 pounds). She competed for Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics and at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Early and personal life Rishony was born in Holon, Israel, to a Jewish family. At the age of five, she was sent by her mother to learn ballet, despite her desire to learn judo. After two years, as she still insisted on learning judo, her mother finally gave in and allowed her to take part in the sport. Her sisters are named Rotem and Maya. Their grandfather is named Muki. She resides in Even Yehuda, Israel, near the Wingate Institute. Peter Paltchik ( he, פיטר פלצ'יק, ukr, Петер Пальтчик; born 4 January 1992) is a Ukrainian-born Israeli judoka, competing in the under 100 kg weight category, of which he is the current number 1 ranked Judoka in the world. Li Kochman (or Lee, he, לי קוכמן; born 18 April 1995) is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 90 kg weight category, and won a silver medal in the 2019 European Judo Championships. Sagi Muki
Sagi Aharon Muki (or Moki; he, שגיא אהרון מוקי; born 17 May 1992) is an Israeli half-middleweight judoka. Muki is the 2019 World Champion. He also won the 2015 and 2018 European championships. In August 2011 Muki won the European Cup U20 in Berlin in the under 73 kilogram (161-pound) category. Tohar Butbul ( he, טוהר בוטבול; born 24 January 1994) is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 73 kg weight category, where he won silver medals at the 2019 Judo World Masters and the 2021 European Championships, and won bronze medals in the 2017 Paris Grand Slam and 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Slam. Baruch Shmailov ( he, ברוך שמאילוב; born 9 February 1994) is an Israeli judoka. He competes in the under 66 kg weight category, and won a gold medal in the 2022 World Masters in Jerusalem.
