Israel At The 2015 European Games
Israel competed at the 2015 European Games, in Baku, Azerbaijan from 12 to 28 June 2015. The 2015 European Games represents Israel's largest ever delegation to a sports competition. Prior to the start of the event Israel planned to send 141 athletes to the games. Winners of Olympic competitions such as triathlon, table tennis and shooting competitions will automatically qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Israel will also participate in three of the five non-Olympic events, including 3×3 basketball and the sambo. Israel finished the games with 12 medals in total and 2 athletes qualifying for the 2016 Summer Olympics. TV broadcasting International Sports Broadcasting (ISB) will be the host broadcaster of the European Games. During the Games, ISB will produce approximately 6 hours of coverage per day. The Olympic Committee of Israel (Hebrew: הוועד האולימפי בישראל) is the recognized National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Israel, and the governing body of Olympic sports in Israel. Shooting At The 2015 European Games
Shooting competitions at the 2015 European Games in Baku were held from 13 to 19 June 2015 at the Baku Shooting centre. Nineteen events were in the program with 330 athletes participating. The programme featured several non-Olympic Mixed team events. The winners of the fifteen Olympic events automatically qualified to the 2016 Summer Olympics. Qualification The bulk (295 from 330) of qualification quota places were awarded based on European rankings as of 31 December 2014. The quota places were for athletes who were among: - 33 top-ranked in Men's Trap and Skeet; - 30 top-ranked in all individual Pistol and Rifle events of either gender; - 18 top-ranked in Women's Trap and Skeet, and Men's Double Trap. The maximum number of athletes per country was 2 in each event. Sergey Rikhter ( he, סרגיי ריכטר; russian: Серге́й Рихтер; born 23 April 1989) is a USSR-born Israeli Olympic sport shooter. He shares the junior world record in the 10 metre air rifle, and was the 2009 ISSF World Cup champion. He competed on behalf of Israel at the 2012 Summer Olympics, and for Israel at the 2016 Summer Olympics. He won the gold medal in the 2013 European Championship and was named European Champion at 10 m. He won a bronze medal at the 2015 European Games for Israel, and the gold medal at the 2019 European Games for Israel in the Men's 10m Air Rifle. Early life Rikhter was born on 23 April 1989, in the Ukrainian SSR of the Soviet Union, and now lives in Rehovot, Israel. He is Jewish and an Israeli citizen. Or "Ori" Sasson ( he, אור "אורי" ששון; born 18 August 1990) is a retired Israeli Olympic judoka. He won a bronze medal in the +100 kg category at the 2016 Summer Olympics and another one at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He is the second of two Israelis to win two Olympic medals. Gymnastics At The 2015 European Games
Gymnastics competitions at the 2015 European Games were held in the National Gymnastics Arena, Baku between 15–21 June 2015. In all, five different gymnastics disciplines were contested. In addition to the existing Olympic programme, additional events were held in both the rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining disciplines. In addition, events in two non-Olympic disciplines, aerobic gymnastics and acrobatic gymnastics were included. Qualification A total of 425 athletes qualified for the gymnastics competitions. Qualification was based on the results from the World or European Championships in each discipline.
