Isobel Borlase
Isobel Borlase (born 12 September 2004) is an Australian professional basketball player for the Forestville Eagles of the NBL1 Central. She debuted for the Adelaide Lightning of the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) in 2022, and in 2023 won the WNBL Sixth Woman of the Year and WNBL Breakout Player of the Year. In 2024, she was named to the All-WNBL First Team and was drafted 20th overall by the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA draft. Borlase helped the Australian Gems win silver at the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cup and gold at the 2022 FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship. Early life Borlase grew up in Adelaide, South Australia, where she attended Loreto College and played junior basketball for the Forestville Eagles. She also played netball and did surf lifesaving. In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. FIBA Under-18 Women's Asian Championship
The FIBA Under-18 Women's Asian Championship is an international under-18 basketball championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. The tournament started in 1970, and is held biennially. The top four teams qualify toward the FIBA Under-17 Women's Basketball World Cup. Because of the recent change in the FIBA Calendar and the inclusion of and in all Asian tournaments, a new competition format was introduced at the start of the 2018 edition. Aside from renaming the tournament to FIBA Under-18 Women's Asian Championship, it is now composed of two divisions (namely Divisions A and B) with a maximum of eight teams each to participate. 2023 NBL1 Season
The 2023 NBL1 season was the fourth season of the NBL1. The season consisted of five conferences: South, North, Central, West and East. The second annual National Finals were held in Perth, with both NBL1 National champions coming from the South Conference, with the Bendigo Braves in the women and the Knox Raiders in the men. Southside Flyers
The Southside Flyers are a professional women's basketball team competing in the Women's National Basketball League ( WNBL). The club is based in Dandenong, Melbourne, Victoria. The team was founded as the Dandenong Rangers, however before the 2019–20 WNBL season began the team was rebranded to the Southside Flyers, adopting a new logo, colour scheme and nickname. The team also transitioned owners at this time. 2022 NBL1 Season
The 2022 NBL1 season was the third season of the NBL1. With the West Conference introduced in 2021 alongside the South, North and Central conferences, the NBL1 expanded further in 2022 with the inclusion of an East Conference. 2021–22 WNBL Season
The 2021–22 WNBL season is the 42nd season of the competition since its establishment in 1981. The Southside Flyers were the defending champions, however they failed to qualify for finals. The Melbourne Boomers won their second championship, defeating Perth in the Grand Final series, 2–1. After the 2020 season was condensed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was confirmed in July 2021 that the upcoming season is set to be closer to the traditional season fixture played over several months across the summer. In October 2021, a new broadcast deal was signed with the ABC, Fox Sports and Kayo, with an 84-game season fixture announced shortly after. The NBL1 East, formerly the Waratah League, is a semi-professional basketball league in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, comprising both a men's and women's competition.
