Islamabad United ( ur, ) is a Pakistani professional Twenty20 franchise cricket team that competes in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The team is based in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, and was formed in 2015 to compete in the first season of the competition. The franchise is owned by Leonine Global Investments through its sports entity Leonine Global Sports, owned by Amna Naqvi and Ali Naqvi. The franchise won the first PSL title, defeating Quetta Gladiators in the inaugural final. They won their second title in the third season of the PSL, by defeating Peshawar Zalmi by three wickets in the final, and is currently the most successful franchise in the competition's history with their three title wins. The team's home-ground is the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The team is coached by Mike Hesson, who replaced Azhar Mahmood. Shadab Khan (Urdu, Punjabi: شاداب خان) is a Pakistani international cricketer who plays for and vice-captains the Pakistan cricket team in limited overs cricket. He captains Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and Northern in domestic cricket. An all-rounder, Khan is Pakistan's most successful T20I bowler. He is also regarded as one of the best fielders in Pakistan. As of 2022, he has been among the players centrally contracted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). On 18 December 2020, Khan captained the Pakistan team for the first time in an international match, when he led the side in the first Twenty20 International (T20I) against New Zealand during Babar's injury. On 26 August 2016, he made his Twenty20 debut for Rawalpindi in the 2016–17 National T20 Cup.
