Iron Man (1931 Film)
''Iron Man'' is a 1931 American pre-Code sports drama film directed by Tod Browning and starring Lew Ayres and Jean Harlow. In 1951, Universal remade the film with Jeff Chandler, Evelyn Keyes and Rock Hudson, directed by Joseph Pevney. A prizefighter is abandoned by his wife due to his failing career. Following his first winning streak, his wife returns to him. But fools her husband into hiring her lover as his new boxing manager, despite his lack of experience. Plot After lightweight prizefighter Kid Mason (Ayres) loses his opening fight, golddigging wife Rose (Harlow) leaves him for Hollywood. Without her around, Mason trains seriously and starts winning. Naturally, Rose returns and worms her way back into his life, despite the misgivings of manager George Regan (Armstrong). Tod Browning
Tod Browning (born Charles Albert Browning Jr.; July 12, 1880 – October 6, 1962) was an American film director, film actor, screenwriter, vaudeville performer, and carnival sideshow and circus entertainer. He directed a number of films of various genres between 1915 and 1939, but was primarily known for horror films, and was often cited in the trade press as the Edgar Allan Poe of cinema. Browning's career spanned the silent film and sound film eras. John Miljan
John Miljan (November 9, 1892 – January 24, 1960) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1924 and 1958. Biography Born in 1892, Miljan was the tall, smooth-talking villain in Hollywood films for almost four decades, beginning in 1923. Miljan made his first sound film in 1927 in the promotional trailer for ''The Jazz Singer'', inviting audiences to see the upcoming landmark film. In later years he played imposing, authoritative parts such as high-ranking executives and military officers. He is best remembered as General Custer in Cecil B. DeMille's film ''The Plainsman''. Sammy Blum
Sammy Blum (May 25, 1889 – June 1, 1945) was an American character actor whose career spanned both the silent and talking film eras. Born in New York City, over the almost 30 years he was in the film industry, he would appear in almost 50 films, mostly in small or bit parts. He continued working right up until his death, his final appearance being in 1946's ''Deadline at Dawn''. He died on June 1, 1945, prior to the completion of filming, and the film was released the following March.
