Ireland National Under-19 Cricket Team
The Ireland national under-19 cricket team represents All-Ireland in under-19 international cricket. Ireland has qualified for the Under-19 Cricket World Cup on eight occasions, most recently in 2018. This is the most of any European country outside England. Ireland's best result came at the 2010 World Cup in New Zealand, where they finished tenth. History Ireland won the 2009 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup Qualifier which was held in Canada. The team gained victories over the U-19 teams of Hong Kong, Canada, Uganda, Sierra Leone, Vanuatu Under-19 cricket team, Vanuatu, the Netherlands and Afghanistan. The team lost only one match to the United States. Ireland's performance in this tournament gained them qualification for the 2010 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. Ryan Eagleson
Ryan Logan Eagleson (born 17 December 1974) is a former Irish cricketer. A right-handed batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler, Ryan Eagleson made his debut for the Ireland cricket team against the Duchess of Norfolk's XI at Arundel Castle in June 1995 and went on to play for them on 65 occasions in all, his last match coming against the West Indies in June 2004. Of his matches for Ireland, one had first-class status and 16 had List A status. In all matches for Ireland, he scored 380 runs at an average of 13.10, his top score (and only half century) being an innings of 50 not out against Scotland in August 1996. He took 70 wickets at an average of 33.66, with best bowling figures of 4/59 against Leicestershire in June 1999. The United States Under-19 cricket team represents the United States in international under-19 cricket. In 2020 former U.S.A. player Kevin Darlington was appointed coach of the team. 2012 Under-19 Cricket World Cup
The 2012 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was a one-day cricket competition for sixteen international U-19 cricketing teams which was held in August 2012. This was the ninth time that the tournament was held since its inception back in 1988. The tournament was held in Australia for the second time after previously hosting it in 1988 with the tournament being held across three cities (Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Townsville). Six teams qualified from the qualifying event as they joined the full members that automatically qualified through to the World Cup. The teams were separated into four groups of four with the top two teams qualifying through to the Super League while the bottom two will compete in the Plate Championship. After finishing second in their group, India beat Australia in the final by six wickets to win their third title after previously winning in 2000 and 2008. The 2008 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup was held in Malaysia from 17 February 2008 to 2 March 2008. The opening ceremony took place on 15 February 2008. The 2004 ICC Under-19 World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament played in Bangladesh from 15 February to 5 March 2004. It was the fifth edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and the first to be held in Bangladesh. The 2004 World Cup was contested by sixteen teams, including one (Uganda) making its tournament debut. After an initial group stage, the top eight teams played off in a super league to decide the tournament champions, with the non-qualifiers playing a separate "plate" competition. Pakistan and the West Indies eventually progressed to the final, played at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka, where Pakistan won by 25 runs to claim their maiden title. The West Indies had been making their first appearance in the final. The 1998 MTN Under-19 World Cup was an international limited-overs cricket tournament played in South Africa from 11 January to 1 February 1998. Sponsored by the MTN Group, it was the second edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, coming ten years after the inaugural tournament in 1988, and the first to be held in South Africa. Sixteen teams participated at the 1998 World Cup, up from only eight at the previous edition. After an initial group stage, the top eight teams played off in a super league to decide the tournament champions, with the non-qualifiers playing a separate "plate" competition. The tournament was won by England, which defeated New Zealand in the final to win its first and only title. 1988 Youth Cricket World Cup
The 1988 McDonald's Bicentennial Youth World Cup was an international cricket tournament played in Australia from 28 February to 13 March 1988. Sponsored by McDonald's, it was the inaugural edition of what is now the Under-19 Cricket World Cup, and formed part of the celebrations for the Australian Bicentenary. The tournament was primarily organised by the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), with only limited oversight from the International Cricket Conference (ICC). Eight teams participated, with the seven Test-playing ICC members joined by a composite team of players from ICC associate members.
