Ireland In The Eurosonic Festival
Each year Ireland selects a number of bands and musicians to participate in the Eurosonic Festival in Groningen, Netherlands. In recent years, RTÉ 2fm, have sponsored two bands per festival. Imelda May
Imelda Mary Higham (born Imelda Mary Clabby, 10 July 1974), professionally known as Imelda May, is an Irish singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Known primarily as a singer, she also plays the bodhrán, guitar, bass guitar and tambourine. She is known for her musical style of rockabilly revival and has also been compared to female jazz musicians such as Billie Holiday. Born and raised in The Liberties area of Dublin, May began her career in music at 16 by performing with a number of local bands and musicians. She formed her own band in 2002, and released her debut studio album, '' No Turning Back''. After the release, May relocated to London with her then-husband, guitarist Darrel Higham. Humanzi (band)
Humanzi were an Irish rock band based in Dublin, Ireland. Album and singles Humanzi released their debut album ''Tremors'' on Fiction/SFR on 24 July 2006. It featured the singles "Fix The Cracks" and "Diet Pills and Magazines". ''Tremors'' was produced by Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails) and Garreth Mannix. The band released their single "Bass Balls" from their second album in summer 2009. Humanzi's second album, ''Kingdom of Ghosts'', was released on 26 February 2010. It was recorded in East Berlin by Rob Kirwan in Funk Haus. Julie Feeney
Julie Feeney is a singer-songwriter, composer, actress, and record producer from Galway, Ireland. She produces and orchestrates her own work, composing both instrumental and electronic music, with full orchestrations. She is a three-time nominee for the Meteor Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year, winning in 2006 for debut album ''13 songs''. Halves (band)
Halves are an ambient band based in Dublin, Ireland. It is composed of Brian Cash and brothers Tim and Elis Czerniak, with additional live members. Formation Halves was formed when Dave, Brian and Tim sat down together and listed bands & composers they admired. They decided on the band's image, including their website & artwork and the visuals of their live shows and had “a very clear manifesto about the kind of sound we wanted and the kind of thing we wanted to do, which not many bands in this country Ireland were doing”. Elis joined soon after and work began on their debut release. Recordings The band has released two EPs; the self-titled ''Halves'' and 2008's seven-track ''Haunt Me When I'm Drowsy''. Republic Of Loose
Republic of Loose were an Irish funk rock band from Dublin. Formed in 2001, the band formerly consisted of lead vocalist Mick Pyro, bass guitarist and vocalist Benjamin Loose, keyboardist Deco, guitarists and vocalists Dave Pyro and Brez and drummer and percussionist Coz Noelen. With a self-described musical style of "the stuff your dad likes", the band signed to Big Cat Records in 2003, recording their debut album ''This is the Tomb of the Juice'' which was released in 2004. Catherine "Cathy" Davey (born 1979) is an Irish singer-songwriter. She has released one extended play, "Come Over" (2004), and four albums, '' Something Ilk'' (2004), ''Tales of Silversleeve'' (2007), '' The Nameless'' (2010) and ''New Forest'' (2016). General Fiasco
General Fiasco are an indie rock group from Bellaghy, Northern Ireland. Since their formation in 2006, they have toured with Little Comets, Fighting With Wire, The Wombats, One Night Only, The Pigeon Detectives, The Enemy, Jet and Kids in Glass Houses. They released their debut album ''Buildings'' on 22 March 2010 on Infectious Records and released their second album '' Unfaithfully Yours'' on 30 July 2012 on Dirty Hit. Declan De Barra
Declan de Barra is an Irish musician, animator and screenwriter, best known for his work in American television. In addition, de Barra's animations have featured in various international film festivals. Music Born in Bunmahon, Co. Waterford, Ireland, de Barra emigrated to Australia in 1989 and started playing in various bands while studying fine art in Perth, Western Australia. He toured the country for a number of years with his group Non-Intentional Lifeform on Dutch label Roadrunner Records.
