UCI Track Cycling World Championships
The UCI Track Cycling World Championships are the set of world championship events for the various disciplines and distances in track cycling. They are regulated by the Union Cycliste Internationale. Before 1900, they were administered by the UCI's predecessor, the International Cycling Association (ICA). Current events include: time trial, keirin, individual pursuit, team pursuit, points race, scratch race, sprint, team sprint, omnium and madison. Women's events are generally shorter than men's. Events which are no longer held include the motor paced events and tandem events. History World championships were first held in 1893, in Chicago, under the ICA. They were for amateurs. Separate professional races were held from 1895, in Cologne. Amateurs and professionals competed in separate events until 1993, after which they raced together in "open" races. Josie Knight
Josie Knight (born 29 March 1997) is an English professional racing cyclist who has represented Great Britain and England since 2018. Knight was part of the Great Britain team that won the silver medal in team pursuit at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, and the 2022 UCI Track Cycling World Championships in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France. Representing England, Knight won bronze in team pursuit at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England. Although born in Buckinghamshire in England, her family moved to Dingle in Ireland in her infancy, gaining Knight Irish citizenship, and she competed for Ireland prior to 2018, winning silver with the Irish team in the European Junior Championships in team pursuit in Anadia, Portugal. Martyn Irvine
Martyn Irvine (born 6 June 1985) is a Northern Ireland-born former cyclist, who competed professionally between 2008 and 2017 for the Pezula Racing, Planet X, , , and teams, and rode at the 2012 Olympic Games. He was also a directeur sportif for the team. Irvine is a 7-time Irish national track and road cycling champion cyclist, who represented the Irish National track team in the Omnium event at the World Cup Classics, and was world champion in the scratch race in 2013. Ryan William Mullen (born 7 August 1994) is an Irish professional bicycle racing, racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI WorldTeam . Career Born in Birkenhead, England, Mullen attended Ysgol Eirias in Colwyn Bay, Wales. While he was attending Ysgol Eirias, Mullen was a member of Rhos on Sea Cycling Club, the same club as general manager and former head of British Cycling Dave Brailsford.
