Iranian hip hop (Persian: هیپ‌هاپ ایرانی), also known to as Persian hip hop (هیپ‌هاپ فارسی), refers to hip hop music developed in Iran (Persia) and in Persian language. It is rooted in American hip hop culture, but it has sometimes incorporated local elements such as Iranian classical music and literature. History Iranian hip hop originates from Tehran, the country's capital city, although a number of experimental works were recorded earlier by diasporan Iranian musicians, particularly in Los Angeles. Iranian rappers started out by recording mixtapes. Some combined hip hop with Iranian elements, such as Iran's classical music. Hip hop music in Iran has often been an underground movement. On several occasions, recording studios have been shut down, websites have been blocked, and artists have been arrested. Zedbazi
Zedbazi ( fa, زدبازی) is an Iranian hip hop band, formed by longtime friends Saman Wilson and Mehrad Hidden and later joined by Sohrab MJ, Sijal, Alireza JJ and Nassim. In a 2022 concert, the founder of the group (Saman Wilson) announced the group's two new members, Sepehr Khalse and Behzad Leito. They are known as the pioneers of gangsta rap in Iran. The band's most famous song, called ''Tabestoon Kootahe'', is largely credited as the first wildly heard piece of Persian Rap. The band was officially suspended in October 2014 due to personal reasons. On May 20, 2020, Zedbazi announced they are back on their Instagram page. Erfan (rapper)
Erfan Hajrasooli (), known professionally as Erfan Paydar (), is an Iranian rapper, songwriter, producer, and label owner. He is one of the pioneers of Persian Rap. Erfan's "Az Khaneh Ta Goor" (Persian: از خانه تا گور) was the one of the first professionally produced Iranian rap albums, released by a major record label. He is nicknamed as "Sun of Persian rap” (Persian: خورشید رپ پارس) by his fans. He is the founder of the label Paydar. He has a collaboration with Yas. His views are a result of his personal experiences and that is reflected in his poems. His songs provide a mixture of commentary on daily life as well politics, poetry, and social issues.
