The 17th District of the Iowa Senate is located in southern Iowa, and is currently composed of Polk County. Wally Horn
Wally E. Horn (born November 28, 1933) is a former Iowa State Senator who served the 27th, 25, and 17th Districts. Horn served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Judiciary committee; the Labor and Business Relations committee; the Rebuild Iowa committee; and the State Government committee. He also serves on the Education Appropriations Subcommittee. Early life and education Horn was raised in Bloomfield, Iowa and graduated from Bloomfield High School. Cindy Axne
Cynthia Lynne Axne (née Wadle; born April 20, 1965) is an American politician who is the U.S. representative from Iowa's 3rd congressional district since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she narrowly defeated incumbent Republican David Young in the 2018 elections. The district is anchored in the state capital Des Moines; it includes much of the state's southwest quadrant, including Council Bluffs. Axne is the only Democrat in the United States House delegation from Iowa, of which she also serves as the dean. Iowa's 3rd congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of Iowa that covers its southwestern quadrant, which roughly consists of an area stretching from Des Moines to the borders with Nebraska and Missouri. Brian Meyer (born 1973) is an American lawyer and politician from the state of Iowa. A member of the Democratic Party, Meyer serves in the Iowa House of Representatives, representing the 29th district. He previously served on the Des Moines, Iowa City Council.
